The International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Summit Sportsman Spectacular has gotten off to a strong start with events in Louisiana and Texas and thanks to the great support of the IHRA partners, several racers have reason to celebrate. Perry Comeaux from Prairieville, La., was the winner of the Moser Engineering Saturday $10,000-to-win race at State Capitol Raceway in Port Allen, La., on April 21. Brian Hughes was the winner of the LaQuinta Inn & Suites $5,000-to-race moved up to that night. As part of the prize package in the season-opening race, Comeaux won an IHRA Ironman Trophy along with the big check, while Brad Roberts of Carthage, Texas captured the $2,000 runner-up prize. Seth Hyatt captured a $1,000 bonus as the top finishing No Box racer on Saturday, and Robbie Mullins won the No Box bonus in the second race. Brent Lancaster from Fort Worth, Texas ruled at the Moser Engineering Saturday $10,000-to-win race at the next event at Xtreme Raceway Park in Ferris, Texas. Lancaster was also the winner of a custom-painted helmet by Imagine That Customs. Curt Harvey II from Greenville, Texas won Sunday’s $5,000-to-win races. Sid Marrs and Josh Reynolds won $1,000 each day as the final No Box racer. Racers who are IHRA members also won their share of contingency bonuses.
