Renegades to Open Summit Pro-Am Season This Weekend at San Antonio Raceway

2007 Event Winners: Top Sportsman- Chris Gulitti and Chris Gulitti , Top Dragster- Nick Folk and Heath Phillips, Super Stock- Fred Henson and Harvey Emmons III, Stock- Nick Folk and Harvey Emmons III, Quick Rod- Rick McDonnell and Todd Robinson, Super Rod- Michael Hunt and Tommy Maedgen, Hot Rod- Jeremy Smith and Joe Githens.
Defending Division Champions: Top Sportsman- Chris Gulitti (Spring, Texas), Top Dragster- Jimmy Lewis (Forney, Texas), Super Stock- Tony Cowell (Weathorford, Texas), Stock- Nick Folk (Durand, Illinois), Quick Rod- Tommy Phillips (Forney, Texas), Super Rod- Michael Hunt (El Paso, Texas), Hot Rod- Kenny Underwood (Tampa, Florida).
What to expect: The first stop of the Division 4 Renegades Summit Pro Am Tour presented by Mr. Gasket will be at San Antonio Raceway Park, home of the Texas Amalie Motor Oil Nationals. Track owners Todd and Judy Zampese are already hard at work getting the facility ready for the season opening event. The gates will open up at noon with a test n tune starting at 4 pm on Friday March 14th.IHRA tech will open at 2pm and continue until 9pm. Saturday the gates will open at 7 am and tech will open at 8am with 2 time trial/Qualifying sessions beginning at 9 am. Eliminations immediately after the 2nd time trial/Qualifying session.. Sunday gates open at 8 am followed by 1 time trail session and go immediately into eliminations.
Special Programs: Moser Engineering Axle Mania—To be eligible a racer must run a set of Moser axles and have the proper Moser Engineering decals and complete the registration form. All IHRA sportsman racers who meet the eligibility requirements will have the opportunity to qualify for a $51,000 purse, including a top prize of $22,500. The seventh edition of Moser Axle Mania will be run at the Torco Northern Nationals at Knoll Gas Motorsports Park in August of 2008. American Race Cars Free Ride—At each 2008 Summit Pro-Am a random driver will be selected from the tech cards at that event. If the Pro-Am is a double two drivers will be selected. The American Race Cars Free Ride winner will be pulled at random from those tech cards at the 2008 IHRA Summit Pro-Am Banquet. Two tech cards will be pulled, the first winning a Silver Card good for a free car and driver entry at each of that driver’s 2009 in-division Divisional races. The second card pulled will determine the winner of a $10,000 gift certificate good towards the purchase of a new American Race Car.
2008 Renegades Division Summit Pro-Am Schedule (all events are ¼ mile double race weekends): March 14-16 at San Antonio Raceway; April 18-20 at Tulsa Raceway Park; May 2-4 at State Capitol; June 20-22 at Pine Valley Raceway Park.
