Patriots Division Kicks Off At Maryland This Weekend

Event: 2008 Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by Mr. Gasket. Patriots double race weekend

When: April 11-132007 Event Winners: Top Sportsman- Jim Carlton and Michael Koontz , Top Dragster- Adam Miller and Jason Harris, Super Stock- Tim Worner and Steve Hurley, Stock- Robbie Hudlow and Anthony Bertozzi, Quick Rod- Brett Nesbitt and Chris Wilkinson, Super Rod- Bryan Sorce and Steve Carter, Hot Rod- Kenny Underwood and Paul Redman.
Defending Division Champions: Top Sportsman- Gary Teets (Manassas, Virginia), Top Dragster- Jason Harris (Pittsboro, North Carolina), Super Stock- Jim Harrington (Chapel Hill, North Carolina), Stock- Jim Harrington (Chapel Hill, North Carolina), Quick Rod- Donny Urban (Pittsboro, North Carolina), Super Rod- Steve Carter (Ashland, Virginia), Hot Rod- Greg Fowler (Ashland, Virginia).
What to expect: With the kickoff of Division 1 at the historic Maryland International Raceway the competition will be tight. The racers in division 1 are always tuff and I’m sure they will be ready to get this year started. This weekend will be a double race weekend, with gates opening Friday at 10:00am. Tech opening at 1:00pm and test and tune from 4:00pm till 9:00 pm. Saturday gates and tech open at 7:30am with time trials and qualifying at 9:00am Saturdays Pro-Am race will begin after 2 rounds of time trials. Frantic 7 and DC Outlaws slated to start at 7:00pm with 5K ET clash to begin approximately 7:30pm. Sunday gates and tech open at 8:00am till 9:00am time trials and qualifying 1 Rd. at 9:30am with eliminations to follow
Special Programs: Moser Engineering Axle Mania—To be eligible a racer must run a set of Moser axles and have the proper Moser Engineering decals and complete the registration form. All IHRA sportsman racers who meet the eligibility requirements will have the opportunity to qualify for a $51,000 purse, including a top prize of $22,500. The seventh edition of Moser Axle Mania will be run at the Torco Northern Nationals at Knoll Gas Motorsports Park in August of 2008. American Race Cars Free Ride—At each 2008 Summit Pro-Am a random driver will be selected from the tech cards at that event. If the Pro-Am is a double two drivers will be selected. The American Race Cars Free Ride winner will be pulled at random from those tech cards at the 2008 IHRA Summit Pro-Am Banquet. Two tech cards will be pulled, the first winning a Silver Card good for a free car and driver entry at each of that driver’s 2009 in-division Divisional races. The second card pulled will determine the winner of a $10,000 gift certificate good towards the purchase of a new American Race Car.
2008 Patriots Division Summit Pro-Am Schedule (all events are double race weekends): April 11-13 at Maryland International Raceway; July 11-13 at Pittsburgh Raceway Park; July 25-27 at Skyview Drags; Aug. 15-17 at Quaker City Raceway.
