DRM Issue #8 – Ladies Day at the Pro-Ams!
| POSTED: 2009-05-05 11:32:26 |

On a recent weekend Maryland International Raceway and Tulsa Raceway Park were both buzzing with activity as the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by Mr. Gasket rolled into both facilities. On tap were double Pro-Am events, and when the smoke cleared, there were some very happy women in the winners circle.
At Maryland, Jeanne Linke and Lisa Bolton traded the top spot in Stock, with Bolton taking the Ironman Saturday and Linke taking the runner-up finish. Sunday, it was Linke’s turn to hoist the big trophy in the winners circle after she defeated Chris Hall in the final.
At Tulsa, Mallori McCullar outlasted a tough field of Top Dragster competitors and defeated Gene Miller in the final to earn her Ironman.
All in all it was a great weekend for some outstanding women in IHRA competition.
Check out all the photos and race results from these two big races in issue 8
In addition, check out the feature on Summit Racing Equipment and the role the company plays in supporting IHRA sportsman racers. Summit’s proactive and positive approach to the sport and the racers who are involved is second to none in the industry.
Susan Wade’s feature on Cherokee Motorsports Park is a great read, so don’t miss it. Also, we have part four of the World Products Project Motown LS small block build-up. The 800-horsepower “mouse” bullet is destined to propel the 2009 Mullis dragster that will be awarded to the Summit SuperSeries Box champion at the end of the year.
Also included in the latest issue of DRM is an interview with sportsman racer Phillip Pennington and a poignant story on Bruce Litton and his tribute to a brave little girl. And of course IHRA President Aaron Polburn offers his unique take on the state-of-the-sport and the world in general in his “The Last Word” column.
