Bigger than ever: Kanawha Valley Motorsports Park to host record-setting Thunder Jam June 20
| POSTED: 2009-06-08 14:28:59 |

More seating, more attractions and more thrills – everything about the June 20 O’Reilly Auto Parts Thunder Jam presented by the U.S. Air Force, McDonalds and SafeAuto at Kanawha Valley Motorsports Park will be bigger and better than ever before.
More is the theme of this year’s event as the organizers of the largest thrill show in America plan on giving the fans more of what they love – thunder, fire and raw, unimaginable speed.
“Kanawha Valley has always been one of our biggest events and this year will be no exception. In fact, we will have even more of everything West Virginia fans love when Thunder Jam comes to the Mountain State in just a few short weeks,” said Thunder Jam Operations Manager Jim Marchyshyn. “This will be one of the most exciting Thunder Jam shows ever. West Virginia fans don’t know what we have in store for them.”

Get ready for a record-shattering night when the stars of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Thunder Jam roll into Mason County for what promises to be an unforgettable night of explosive action and heart-stopping thrills.
In fact, the event has grown so big that organizers were forced to bring in over 1,000 more seats thus ensuring a bigger and better show for the booming market.
“After last year’s O’Reilly Thunder Jam set attendance records we knew we had to expand just to contain all the action,” Marchyshyn said. “We are going to put on the biggest show Kanawha Valley has ever seen so more seating was essential.”
It is hard to tell what will survive the chaos when the most extreme flame throwing, earth shaking vehicles on the planet take to the staging lanes.
Headlining the one-night thrill show will be the highly popular 20,000 horsepower “Shockwave” jet semi.

Hurling 20 foot flames into the night sky and shaking the earth with every pass, the “Shockwave” always lives up to its name.
And for fans hungry for even more fire – the June 20 O’Reilly Thunder Jam has more flame wielding machines than ever before.
Along with the “Shockwave” there will also be a side-by-side battle of the jet trains as the “Chattanooga Choo Choo” takes on “Cannonball Express” in one of the fastest battles in drag racing.
The Kanawha Valley Thunder Jam will also feature the West Virginia debut of the jet powered quad four-wheeler.
But the flame-powered machines are only a part of the show.
Fans of drag racing’s past will also be in for a treat as over half a dozen wheel hopping nostalgia funny cars will be on hand competing in an insane burnout contest along with going head-to-head in exciting nitro action.

Also back by popular demand is the world’s only wheelstanding school bus – “The Cool Bus” – which will once again try to keep its headlights pointing due North with a length-of-the-track wheelie accompanied by sparks, fire and the roar of the most powerful school bus engine ever assembled.
All this and more can be witnessed for the most family-friendly prices in town.
If you purchase your tickets in advance at participating O’Reilly Auto Parts stores you can take advantage of an amazing deal. Just buy an adult ticket for $20 and get a 12-and-under kid’s ticket for free. Fans can also pick up a $5 adult discount coupon at participating McDonalds restaurant locations.

And, as always, parking and all-access pit passes are free at the Bud Ice Pit Party.
“We emphasize affordable family entertainment and value with Thunder Jam,” Marchyshyn said. “We know our fans work hard for their money and we strive to provide them with a great show at an unbeatable price.”
