Thriller Jet Dragster
Who’s the best driver in Carolina Pro Mod drag racing?
Find out August 8th at Farmington Dragway.
Over a dozen of the world’s best Pro Modified drivers spanning all three sanctioning bodies will make up the “King of Carolina” Pro Modified Shootout at one of the largest O’Reilly Auto Parts Thunder Jam events of the year August 8th at Farmington Dragway just north of Mocksville.
This one of a kind event will feature drivers from IHRA, NHRA and ADRL competition mixed even further by supercharged, nitrous and turbocharged engines. While the varying backgrounds and engine combinations will make for a fun, fast and exciting race, only one will walk away at the end of the day as the true “King of Carolina.”
“Of all the shows we put on during the year, this is the one you simply can’t miss. Last year the racing was so intense and the rivalry so heated that two of our drivers actually got into a fight in the pits. Don’t think the ‘King of Carolina’ title matters? Just ask one of those guys how important this race is,” said Thunder Jam Operations Manager Jim Marchyshyn.
Better yet, the highly touted “King of Carolina” shootout is only a small portion of what Thunder Jam has in store for race fans and thrill seekers alike at The Farm.

Jet Quad
Also on hand August 8th will be Dick Rosberg’s “Thriller” jet dragster and the North Carolina debut of the amazing four wheel jet quad.
“We went a little overboard for Farmington, but that is a good thing. Thunder Jam fans are going to truly get their moneys worth at this event,” Marchyshyn said. “Between seeing the best professional drivers in the country and watching a pair of jet vehicles, you aren’t going to see a better show this year for the price.”
The flame throwing “Thriller” jet rail, with full jungle camouflage and a Viper motif, will also be a part of an evening long salute to the armed forces as driver Dustin Russell out of Fort Bragg plans to wow the crowd with 20 foot flames belching from the pipes and speeds approaching 200 miles per hour on the eighth mile.
“We live in the greatest country in the world and we wanted to pay special tribute to those who have made that possible by having an evening long salute to the troops topped off by an amazing show by Dustin and the ‘Thriller’ dragster,” Marchyshyn said.
If you purchase your tickets in advance at participating O’Reilly Auto Parts stores you can take advantage of an amazing deal. Just buy your adult ticket for $20 and get a 12-and-under kid’s ticket for free. And, as always, parking and all-access pit passes are free.
“We emphasize affordable family entertainment and value with Thunder Jam,” Marchyshyn said. “We know our fans work hard for their money and we strive to provide them with a great show at an unbeatable price.”
Showtime is scheduled for 7 p.m.
