After 24 years of service, Lt. Col. William B. Grubbs is retiring from the United States Air Force. Bill is the husband and crew chief of 2002 IHRA Stock World Champion Brenda Grubbs.
With over 5,000 hours of flying time, including numerous combat and combat-support missions, Bill has traveled the world flying the B-52, T-37, T-38, C-130 and AC-130 Gunship. During his military career Bill was stationed in Germany, Greece, and throughout the United States.

Bill and Brenda Grubbs
Furloughed from Delta Airlines in November, 2001, Bill has worked almost full time in the Air Force Reserve after leaving active duty in 1997.
In 2003 Bill was deployed to Iraq, so with the help of her mom, Brenda raced most of the season without her husband and crew chief. During these challenging times the support of the racing community was tremendous to Bill, Brenda, and the military. After returning home from the Middle East, Bill presented an American flag flown over Iraq to the IHRA.

Lt. Col. Grubbs brings his C-130 in one last time prior to his retirement
In December, 2006 Bill accepted recall to Delta Airlines and immediately went on Military Leave of Absence to continue to work towards an active duty retirement. Bill will return to Delta this November.
Congratulations, Bill, and thanks for a job well done in the service of your country!
