Defending Division Champions: Top Sportsman- Bruce Thrift (Waycross, GA), Top Dragster- Scott Richardson (Springfield, TN), Super Stock- Anthony Bertozzi (Ashland, VA),  Stock- Myron Piatek (Holly Hill, FL), Quick Rod- Steve Mueller (Pinellas Park, FL), Super Rod- Todd Thompson (Naples, FL), Hot Rod- Tim Butler (Sarasota, FL).

What to expect: The fourth and final stop for the Division 2's Heat Wave competitors will be at Darlington Dragway. The gates will open on Friday at noon, tech will be from 1 pm to 9 pm for early arriving participates. The track will hold a test n tune from 6 to 9 pm for $25. Saturday the gates and tech will open at 8 am. Two time trial/ qualifying sessions will begin at 9 am and eliminations immediately following the second time trial session. Sunday the gates will open at 8 am. NO ENGINES FIRED BEFORE 10 am. Tech will open at 10 am and 1 time trial session at 10 am (time and weather permitting) with eliminations immediately following the time trial session. Run order for the event: Hot Rod, Stock, Quick Rod, Super Stock, Super Rod, Top Dragster, Top Sportsman.

Special Programs: Summit All-Star Program—Season ending event where the division champions in their respective class will compete against each other for the title at the World Finals at Rockingham..  Moser Engineering Axle Mania—To be eligible a racer must run a set of Moser axles and have the proper Moser Engineering decals and complete the registration form. All IHRA sportsman racers who meet the eligibility requirements will have the opportunity to qualify for a $51,000 purse, including a top prize of $22,500. The seventh edition of Moser Axle Mania will be run at the Northern Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park in August of 2009. American Race Cars Free Ride—At each 2009 Summit Pro-Am a random driver will be selected from the tech cards at that event. If the Pro-Am is a double two drivers will be selected. The American Race Cars Free Ride winner will be pulled at random from those tech cards at the 2009 IHRA Summit Pro-Am Banquet. Two tech cards will be pulled, the first winning a Silver Card good for a free car and driver entry at each of that driver’s 2010 in-division Divisional races. The second card pulled will determine the winner of a $10,000 gift certificate good towards the purchase of a new American Race Car.
