Ricky Bax won the coveted Iron Man trophy in the 7.90 second index class; Shawn Hart took first place in the 8.90 field; and Jared Jones earned the win in the 12.90 class.  The attached photos are from the 8/21/09 "Iron Man" trophy award presentations.

The 2009 Junior Dragster series at Rocky Mountain Raceways included 11 points races throughout the season.  The final junior dragster points race of the season was held September 11, 2009 in Salt Lake City.  Prior to the race, no season champion had been crowned in any of the 3 index classes.  Nerves were running high for the racers and their families prior to the event.  Interestingly the three drivers who won the season long championship in the 3 classes were the same drivers who won their respective Iron Man race.  Ricky Bax held on to a 30 point pre-race lead to earn the 2009 championship for the 7.90 index.  Shawn Hart climbed from a pre-race position of 2nd place to become the 8.90 class champion.  Shawn Hart was also race runner-up to Zach Haarbrink.  Jared Jones jumped two positions from a pre-race position of 3rd in points to overtake 1st place by 10 points.  Jared began the day knowing he must win the 9/11/09 race to become track champion.  Jared won the race and took home the race trophy and the season-long championship honors.  Jared Jones defended his 2008 season championship.  Jared has been track champion twice in his two years of racing.  Shawn Hart has been track champion twice in four years of racing.  Ricky Bax is a perennial threat who finished in second place in prior years.  2009 is Ricky's first season championship.  Congratulations to Rocky Mountain Raceway's junior dragster class.
