What to expect: With the return of the Summit Racing Equipment Tour Presented by Mr. Gasket to New England Dragway, it brings with it the value of another weekend of racing back-to-back with the National Event from the same tow. Joe Lombardo, General Manager of New England Dragway is excited to see the Pro-Am Tour return to the strip. “With an opportunity to get within striking distance of earning a slot in the Tournament of Champions this year's Pro Am event at New England Dragway promises to ratchet up the competition level. The format of holding two races in one weekend is a major benefit; especially for those who are racing on a tight budget,” Lombardo said. “Because this event follows our Amalie Oil North American Nationals presented by the New England Dodge Dealers, we're certain some of the best racers in the Northeast will take another crack at a coveted world championship berth in Rockingham. There's little doubt in my mind the event will be success on all levels. All of us at New England Dragway are anxious to experience the excitement that is the hallmark of IHRA sportsman racing.”
Special Programs:

Summit All-Star Program— The Summit Racing Equipment Allstars program will feature the 2009 divisional champions and the defending Allstar champion in each of the seven sportsman classes competing in a unique, playoff-like atmosphere. The program begins January 1 and concludes with a competitor’s last Pro-Am claiming event. The event will be contested at the 2009 World Finals in Rockingham.

Moser Engineering Axle Mania—To be eligible a racer must run a set of Moser axles and have the proper Moser Engineering decals and complete the registration form. All IHRA sportsman racers who meet the eligibility requirements will have the opportunity to qualify for a $51,000 purse, including a top prize of $22,500. The eighth edition of Moser Axle Mania will be run a the Northern Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park in August of 2010.

American Race Cars Free Ride—At each 2009 Summit Pro-Am a random driver will be selected from the tech cards at that event. If the Pro-Am is a double two drivers will be selected. The American Race Cars Free Ride winner will be pulled at random from those tech cards at the 2009 IHRA Summit Pro-Am Banquet. Two tech cards will be pulled, the first winning a Silver Card good for a free car and driver entry at each of that driver’s 2009 in-division Divisional races. The second card pulled will determine the winner of a $10,000 gift certificate good towards the purchase of a new American Race Car.
