After a record-setting season that has seen more fans, more entertainment and more excitement than ever before, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Thunder Jam series would like to say thank you to its fans with the largest Thunder Jam event of the year Saturday, October 3rd at Immokalee Regional Raceway in Immokalee, Fla.

The Immokalee O’Reilly Auto Parts Thunder Jam presented by the U.S. Air Force will feature the largest lineup of thrill-acts seen all year and a few firsts in the decade long history of the series.

And when the night is through, Thunder Jam Operations Manager Jim Marchyshyn promises that the fans in attendance will be left in disbelief over what they just witnessed.

Cool Bus

“We have had a record year as far as attendance and that has allowed us to grow the show to a level we never thought possible. With that said, we wanted to finish out the 2009 season with one of the largest shows we have ever put on as a way of saying thank you to our loyal fans,” Marchyshyn said. “If you only see one event this year – this is it.”

Highlighting Saturday’s season finale is a winner-takes-all showdown between eight of southwest Florida’s quickest and fastest outlaw doorslammers with the winner taking home their share of a lucrative purse.

“Everyone knows that the best doorslammer racing in the country is found in the south and we found eight of the best in the business to battle it out for the title of Florida’s Fastest on Saturday night,” Marchyshyn said.

On top of the outlaw shootout, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Thunder Jam will also feature a first in the history of the series – the first ever jet dragster versus jet funny car showdown.

Jet Dragster

For the first time ever the “Space Machine” jet funny car will go head-to-head against the red, while and blue smoke billowing “Thriller” jet dragster in a war for jet vehicle dominance.

“We have raced two jet dragsters and we have raced two jet funny cars, but we have never matched the two vehicles together,” Marchyshyn said. “It is a battle that has been waging since the beginning of drag racing – funny car or dragster. Well, on October 3rd we are going to find out which truly is the best in the business.”

Bringing the evening to a close will be the world’s only wheelstanding school bus the “Cool Bus” driven by the legendary Ken Nelson and the 20,000 horsepower “X-Treme Machine” jet semi.

Jet Funny Car

For as long as cars have been racing the quarter-mile, Nelsen has been pushing the limits of his highly popular school bus themed wheelstander to the thrill of fans across the globe. With the headlights pointing due north and sparks shadowing the vehicle the length of the quarter-mile, the “Cool Bus” is one of the most talked about vehicles in existence today.

And, as has become tradition at Thunder Jam events, Saturday’s main event will be the flame-throwing jet semi of Joe “Peppi” Urban. Spewing 30 foot flames and shaking the earth with every pass, the “X-Treme Machine” has become a favorite and much anticipated portion of every event.

“Half of what we are bringing to Immokalee would be enough to thrill the Florida fans, but we decided to throw everything and the kitchen sink at them for this event. I can’t wait to get this thing started,” Marchyshyn said.
