The field is set for the highly anticipated Summit SuperSeries run off for the World Championship at Rockingham Dragway on October 22-25. Division 1 at Farmington Dragway, Division 2 West at Steele Alabama and Division 9 at Rockingham Dragway Summit Team Finals were the last three divisions to determine the competitors to make the trek to North Carolina next weekend.
From the Division 2 West Heat Wave Team Finals Timmy Roe of Mountain Park Dragway won the Box Class run off taking out Greg Pike from Chilton County in the final round of competition. In the No Box Class, Davey Boyd of Middle Tennessee Dragway also brought home the win and the opportunity to compete for the World Championship by defeating Richard Justice of Chilton County in the finals.
Two competitors from Fayetteville Motorsports Park will be making the short drive to Rockingham this week. Art Lasalle and Jeff Parrish will be competing in the Box and No Box Classes respectively at Rockingham Dragway. Division 1 Patriots action had Eric Harris from Natural Bridge winning the No Box class and Linn Joines from Elk Creek Dragway winning the Box class
Racers who finish first in their track's Summit SuperSeries points compete against other track’s point leaders at the Summit Team Finals in their division. The winner of each division’s run-off event competes for the World Championship at the World Finals, October 22-25, at Rockingham Dragway. The winner of the Box and No Box categories will receive $10,000 from Summit Racing Equipment. The runners-up in each class will win $7,000, semifinalists get $2,000 and quarterfinalists receive $1,000. Every entrant will receive $1,000 tow money when they tech in at the event.
The No Box winner will also receive a 28’ Vintage Intimidator Trailer, Custom Davis Golf Cart, Aruba vacation, banquet recognition, Diamond Championship ring, and Ironman. The Box winner will also receive a turn-key Mullis Race Car dragster, Aruba vacation, banquet recognition, Diamond Championship ring, and Ironman. Racers who finish first at their local track will also receive $1,000. Other prizes will also be available.

“The $250,000 Summit SuperSeries is the most lucrative program for the grassroots racer in the country," said Sherrie Barbour, IHRA Special Programs Director. "Where else can a competitor win a World Championship and never leave their home track? These racers can win a World Championship by competing against the best racers at a local, regional and national level. Not only are the racers receiving an opportunity of a lifetime, we are also committed to finding ways for our tracks to develop their bracket programs.”
Since not all tracks are able to send representatives to Summit Team Finals events because of distance restrictions, two “at large” entrants are chosen at random. Winners of this year’s Summit SuperSeries lottery come from the farthest reaches of the IHRA sphere. They are Bud Finch, representing Oxford Plains Dragway in the Box class, and Ken Ludwig, who will race in the No Box class representing Thunder Valley Dragway.
