DRM Issue #20 – Extreme Makeover, Nitro Jam Style
| POSTED: 2009-10-29 17:54:10 |

When the 2010 IHRA Nitro Jam season kicks off at Palm Beach International Raceway next January, fans will be treated each day to a breath-taking, nitro-fueled extravaganza the likes of which has rarely been seen in the drag racing world.
Simply put, the IHRA is dedicated to putting a lot more nitro into Nitro Jam!
The majority of the events will be two-day affairs, featuring all-inclusive professional shows Saturday and Sunday, with winners in Top Fuel, Pro Fuel, Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car, and Pro Stock being crowned at the conclusion of each day’s program. Fans will get to see cars in each class run twice, with the two quickest in the first session shooting it out Chicago-style for the Ironman each night.
In addition, there will be a head-to-head race between both of Les Shockley’s awesome fire-breathing jet trucks each night, an on-track Fan Fest, the Cool Bus wheelstander, and a whole lot more. Each event will be custom designed to best serve a track’s specific market, and could include Nitro Harley, jet bike, Pro Modified, and a number of other exciting categories.
Sportsman racing is the lifeblood of IHRA competition, so starting next season the competition will be stronger than ever in all sportsman classes. The Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by Mr. Gasket is returning, as are the Tournament of Champions, Moser Axle Mania, Summit SuperSeries, and Summit Allstars presented by Mr. Gasket programs.
Read all about the exciting new Nitro Jam format in DRM’s interview with IHRA president Aaron Polburn in Issue 20.
Also in Issue 20 is coverage of the Summit Racing Equipment Team Finals events in both the North Stars and Thunder divisions.
Don’t miss the opportunity to get off track with Randy Cunningham as he interviews one of the IHRA’s rising stars, the pride of Aruba, Pro Stock competitor Trevor Eman.
There’s also another of Susan Wade’s features on IHRA members tracks. This time around she gives us a look at the people behind Florida’s County Line Dragway.
And of course IHRA President Aaron Polburn offers his unique take on the state-of-the-sport and the world in general in his “The Last Word” column.
