Dave Morgan is the New Manager at MCID

Dave Morgan is the New Manager at MCID
Minot, ND. Jim Grote, president of the Flat Track Incorporated (DBA: Magic City International Dragway (MCID)) announced that Dave Morgan will be the new track manager. Grote said, “I still can’t believe we secured Dave’s talents. He brings so very much to our market; we are all ecstatic about his involvement. We can now take the dragstrip to the highest levels of our sport.”
Asked how he felt about his new position, Morgan said, “I’m happier than a dog with two tails! One tail is wagging because I can take total advantage of my four decades of motor sports involvement. Throughout my career, whether it was in manufacturing, publishing or education, I held a secret desire to operate a race track, and here I am. The other tail is wagging because this assignment fits very neatly into the legacy I am building with my seminar program (www.davemorganseminars.com). The track operates from May to September and my seminar season spans from November to April. It’s a perfect fit. I’ve even had conversations with some of the owners about starting a chassis-tuning school right here in Minot. Our possibilities are endless.”
When asked to predict what kind of racing programs he will bring to MCID, Morgan indicated, “It’s too early to get into details, I promised the owners that I will present a business plan by Easter of 2010. That being said, I’ll offer some clues. When IHRA racers look at a map of the US and the IHRA Divisional structure, Minot appears to be on the very outer frontier of drag racing. I’d ask folks to look at the map with a different perspective. Drag racing is not only a west coast sport, or an east coast sport. It’s not just an American sport. It’s a sport that belongs, mostly, in the entire North American continent and if you look at the map with that viewpoint, then Minot is near the middle of North America.
“That’s the first clue. The second clue is that we will participate in Divisional and National programs provided by IHRA. We will no longer be in the “sticks” of IHRA country; we’ll be in the “thick” of IHRA drag racing.”
Grote concluded that the MCID owners group made a commitment to the racers and the community and securing Morgan is the cornerstone of that commitment.
