Member Tracks Renew Commitment To IHRA

Wednesday, 04 March 2015

IHRA is proud to announce the continued commitment from member tracks throughout North America.

Empire Dragway – With the buzz surrounding Empire ringing in the ears of the Northeast, Track owner/operators Jerry and Clara Scaccia have renewed their commitment to the IHRA in 2015 and are settling into their roles as leaders of the NY track. The family has moved from behind the wheel to in the wheelhouse as they prepare to take on the challenge of an IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour Presented by Amsoil event as it invades the facility in August. “It’s a great opportunity for the Division racers of Northern Division One to return to the historic facility,” Division Director Jon O’Neal said. “I’m confident in the facility, the crew and the time-line and the feedback from racers has confirmed; it’s going to be a great year at Empire.”

Grand Bend Motorplex – For racers who haven’t been there, the name “Grand Bend” is often denoted as a drag strip. For those who have ventured to the facility, the name “Grand Bend” quickly becomes synonymous with “Party Central.” With a resigned commitment to the IHRA, the long standing IHRA cornerstone facility will once again host one of the largest Nitro Jam and Summit Pro-Am events in front of some of the most die-hard fans on the tour.

Richmond Dragway – Richmond Dragway has not only become a racer favorite on the Summit Pro-Am Tour but has become a cornerstone for hospitality and community involvement. The time, energy and dedication the Davis Family has with the historic facility is only matched by the relationships they have with their racers on both the weekly level and on the IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by Amsoil. “It’s easy to see why racers choose to come to Richmond from D3 and D9 for their ‘out’ claims,” Division Director Jon O’Neal said. “It’s a place where everyone can feel like they are at their home track the first time they pull in the gate.”

Thompson Dragway – Even with years of updates and renovation the look and feel of Thompson Dragway remains one of those dragstrips that harkens memories of flag-drop starters and dry hops. The ownership and crew at Thompson plan to keep it that way while renewing their commitment to the IHRA and forming lasting impressions on the racers who travel there. “To sit directly above the tree on the tower/bridge while two Top Sportsman cars burnout at Thompson is to experience power in a whole new way,” Division Director Jon O’Neal said.  “Combine the atmosphere with a hard working crew, competitive Summit Super Series program and killer Bracket Finals Team and you have a facility that has conquered the tests of time valiantly.”

Thunder Valley Dragways – Standing as one of the most unique and historic facilities on the Western end of IHRA’s Division 5, Thunder Valley Dragways is a favored destination for a friendly experience, beautiful Scenery and tough Summit Super Series racing.  The IHRA is proud to re-sign Thunder Valley as they look toward another great season of racing.  Along with a strong Bracket Program the facility also plays host to a number of special events including two DRM Ironman Classic events.  “Even the first-timers at Thunder Valley Dragway feel like family as Owner/Operator Glen Rapp wouldn’t have it any other way,” Division Director Jon O’Neal said.  “If the charm of the facility and hospitality of the crew don’t hit you like a ton of bricks when you pull in the gate, you aren’t at the right place.”

Wisconsin International Raceway – Owner/Operator of Wisconsin International Raceway, Roger Van Daalwyk has renewed his commitment to the IHRA in 2015 and will once again run one of the top Summit Super Series programs in the Division.  “There’s not a tighter knit group of racers in the country than those who live, eat and breath the wonders of W.I.R,” Division Director Jon O’Neal said.  “But they’re also the first to jump in when they see someone in need.”  WIR is always a contender in all aspects of the Division 5 Bracket Finals and is one of the main reasons the Division is growing so strong.”
