Amarillo Team 1 Wins Division 7 Summit Team Finals

Complete Event Result from Last Weekends Team Finals Event at Amarillo Dragway. 

Amarillo Team 1 dominates the event with 36 points compared to the 25 point total for Runner-Up Amarillo Team 2.

Division7-GunslingersAmarillo Dragway dominated the Division 7 Team Finals, held at Amarillo Dragway this past weekend. With four teams participating. Amarillo Dragway Team 1 finished first with 36 points, Team 3 finished second with 25 points, while Team 4 and Team 2 finished third and fourth with 20 and 16 points respectively. Wichita Raceway Park came in fifth with 15 points, and Southwestern International Raceway totaled 12 points for the weekend, finishing sixth.

While Amarillo Dragway dominated the team competition of the weekend’s race, Southwestern International Raceway will be sending three drivers to Memphis after sweeping the Summit SuperSeries competition.


Cindy Hawk, from Tucson, Arizona, earned a trip to the World Finals for Top Competition. She made a 4.976 run on her 4.96 dial after leaving at .513 in her 2011 Spitzer dragster to defeat Don Boulware. Boulware, from Irving, Texas, left at .505 in his 2002 Mullis dragster and went 4.977 on a 4.95.

In Mod competition, Matt Hawk defeated Iowa Park, Texas driver Kevin Grider. Hawk, Tucson, Arizona, made a 8.286 pass on his 8.26 dial with a .546 reaction while Grider left at .560 and broke out with a 6.521 on a 6.56.

Hunter Jones, from Tucson, Arizona, is the Junior Dragster competitor advancing to Memphis. Jones went 8.110 on a 8.30 with a .599 light to defeat Dakota Hammett. Hammett, from Dalhart, Texas, left at .681 and made an 8.053 pass on his 8.03 dial.

Mike Badeaux, from Gardendale, Texas and representing Amarillo Team 3, took the top spot in the Main Event Top class. With a .506 light in his 1966 Chevy Chevelle, Badeaux was just .006 off his 7.21 dial, defeating Charlie Howard. Howard, from Walter, Oklahoma, left at .549 and made a 6.434 run in his 1960 Ford Falcon on a 6.42 dial to finish runner-up for Wichita Raceway Park.

Two Southwestern International Raceway drivers faced off in the Main Event Mod competition. Tim O’Moore took his 1988 Chevy Camaro for a 10.059 run on a 10.05 target with a .509 reaction to earn the win. Matt Hawk finished runner-up with a 8.362 pass on a 8.35 dial and a .539 reaction.

In Junior Dragster competition, Amarillo Team 1 driver Nate Kendall was the big winner. With a better reaction of .547, Kendall made an 8.061 on a 8.00 to defeat Blake Embry. Embry, driving for Amarillo Team 3, left a .724 and made an 8.010 on an 8.00.
