HOLLY SPRINGS, Ms. — The IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals presented by Strange Engineering, the biggest race of the year on the International Hot Rod Association calendar, is back and better than ever.

Over the next few days, champions from across North America will compete in a main event featuring over $275,000 in payouts and grand prizes in this invitation-only race. 

In addition, there’s an action-packed schedule starting with today’s test-and-tune and golf cart/pit bike race. There are the Race of Champions and Racer Appreciation Party featuring free food and live music on Friday before Saturday’s main event with racers battling for IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Championships in five classes — Top (Box), Mod (No Box), Sportsman, Motorcycle and Junior Dragster. 

The IHRA Summit SuperSeries Top (Box) world champion will receive $20,000 in prize money, an IHRA Gold Card, a World Champion Diamond Ring, the prestigious IHRA World Champion Ironman Trophy plus the grand prize of an Ezell Race Cars custom-built chassis. 

For the Mod (No Box) champion, there is $20,000 in prize money, an IHRA Gold Card, a World Champion Diamond Ring and a prestigious IHRA World Champion Ironman Trophy. Flying A Motorsports is supplying a 28-foot InTech enclosed trailer made of an all-aluminum frame as the grand prize. 

The Sportsman champion receives $7,000 in prize money, an IHRA Gold Card, a World Champion Diamond Ring and a prestigious IHRA World Champion Ironman Trophy. There’s also the grand prize of a 20-foot, wood-floor flatbed car hauler made of the finest construction from B&C Trailer Services. 

The Junior Dragster prize package includes $10,000 in prize money, an IHRA Gold Card, a World Champion Diamond Ring and a prestigious IHRA World Champion Ironman Trophy. Dart’s Carts has provided a Club Car 48V golf cart as the Junior Dragster grand prize.

Among the Motorcycle champion’s prize package is an IHRA Gold Card, a World Champion Diamond ring and a prestigious IHRA World Champion Ironman Trophy.  Evil SwingArms is providing a grand prize of either a basic swingarm or a $575 value towards the purchase of a higher-priced swingarm.

Friday’s Race of Champions are better than before with Vaughn Oil sponsoring the Top Gambler and Rick’s Powder Coating the Mod Gambler. Check out below for a schedule of events.

HOLLY SPRINGS, Ms. — The best of the best are coming to Holly Springs Motorsports Park for the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals presented by Strange Engineering Thursday through Saturday.

IHRA SuperSeries track champions, IHRA Summit Team Finals divisional champions, former IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Champions and winners of IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Moser Engineering and FuelTech will meet in Mississippi to determine IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Champions in five classes — Top (Box), Mod (No Box), Sportsman, Motorcycle and Junior Dragster.

Representing IHRA member tracks throughout North America, they are competing for over $275,000 in payouts and prizes at the invitation-only race.

Champions come from the world’s oldest continuously operating drag strip, Great Lakes Dragaway in Wisconsin, to newer tracks like Xtreme Raceway Park in Texas and Onawa Dragway in Iowa.

From the far flung corners of the continent, defending IHRA Summit SuperSeries Sportsman World Champion Larry Doty travels from South Florida, while a contingent represents Interlake Dragway, north of the border in the Canadian province of Manitoba. We also welcome a group of Southwest racers from Albuquerque Dragway in New Mexico. They come from the East Coast like South Carolina Motorplex and all points in between to this great gathering of champions.

STEELE, Ala. — There was a little foreshadowing of the IHRA Division 8 (Raiders) Summit Team Finals main event during the fun of special awards. You could check out all the fast cars or you could have watched the golf cart race.

Team Alabama beat Team Brainerd in the golf cart final as part of a fun-filled team finals. Don’t feel bad for Brainerd, they were honored for the Best Appearing Team and Grandstand.

HOLLY SPRINGS, Ms. — Tune up those engines, set up those chassis and get ready to face the best bracket racers in North America because IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals week is finally here.

Racers from all across the IHRA’s different divisions have competed all year for the chance to just to be a part of this event. Over 250 drivers, the best of the best, are set to converge on Holly Springs Motorsports Park with the opportunity to reach their ultimate goal of becoming an IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Champion.

These champion racers have qualified for this invitation-only event in different ways. Some have gotten here by winning an IHRA Summit SuperSeries track championship and others by scoring a divisional title at the IHRA Summit Team Finals. Some are former IHRA Summit SuperSerres World Champions and others are class winners at an IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Moser Engineering and FuelTech.

Any racer invited to the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals can enter Friday’s Race of Champions Gamblers races if their car is legal in the class entered. Early arrival parking and registration starts Wednesday. There’s a Thursday test-and-tune, followed by the golf cart and pit bike race.

It really cranks up Friday with round 1 of qualifying, a Race of Champions Gamblers and the Racer Appreciation party complete with great food and live music. Saturday is the main event with over $275,000 in payouts and prizes to be contested. Click here for a complete schedule of events.

NEESES, S.C. — The IHRA Summit Team Finals are a time of great racing and even greater fellowship. Racers representing different tracks got together over the weekend for the IHRA Division 9 (Raiders) Summit Team Finals at South Carolina Motorplex.

A huge sense of pride is bringing the best looking, best prepared machines to the track. They were recognized in different categories. Showing they're more than just pretty pieces of metal, both Robert Rayfield and Todd Payne went on to win their respective classes in Saturday's main event.

STEELE, Ala. — Alabama International Dragway had two individual champions and two more racers reach the final round of the IHRA Division 8 (South) Summit Team Finals presented by ProMaxx Performance to earn the team championship Sunday.

Besides being a great host, Alabama International Dragway edged out Brainerd Motorsports Park in the team standings. Knoxville Dragway, Brainerd No. 2, Baileyton “Good Time” Dragstrip, Holiday Raceway, I-22 Motorsports Park and Alabama No. 2 rounded out the team results.

Alabama International Dragway racers Tucker Kay and Kenny Middlebrooks met in the Top (Box) final. Kay eased down the track to the victory as Middlebrooks fouled at the start.

Brian Hagler, representing Knoxville Dragway, posted the strong run of 5.913 seconds at 114.85 mph, along with a .008 reaction time to win the Mod (No Box) final. Dean Staples from Alabama posted a 6.305-second effort at 108.06 mph with a .013 start.

Two of Brainerd’s finest met in the Sportsman final. Rich Arbitelle won with a 9.075-second pass at 79.58 mph over Marty Goldsmith, who fouled at the start. Goldsmith, the 2021 Division 2 champion and also a winner in a Thursday Gamblers race, finished his run in 7.708 seconds at 87.51 mph.

Grace Varner, who won a Gamblers race against her brother earlier in the weekend, captured the Junior Dragster title. Also representing Alabama International Dragway, she went down the drag strip in 7.666 seconds at 77.98 mph for her second Division 2 title. Logan Grayson from Brainerd’s team 2, who won the Gamblers race at the 2022 IHRA Summit World Finals, broke out in the final.

Rick Perry won over Corey Lee in a battle of Knoxville racers in the Motorcycle final. Perry raced down the track in 5.490 seconds at 121.04 mph. Lee was better at the tree, but broke out on his run and finished in 5.942 seconds at 115.04 mph.

NEESES, S.C. — South Carolina Motorplex took the championship at the IHRA Division 9 (Raiders) Summit Team Finals on Saturday night.

The host track finished ahead of Pageland Dragway, Shadyside Dragway, Wilkesboro Dragway and Piedmont Dragway in the team results.

James Lester from Pageland captured the Top (Box) final sponsored by Trailer Ranch LLC as final-round opponent Cory Landstra, representing South Carolina Motorplex, triggered a -.008 red light. Lester ended with a 5.829-second run at 113.32 mph on a 5.81 dial with a .024 reaction time. Landstra went down the track in 5.196 seconds at 106.20 mph.

Robert Rayfield from Pageland was dead-on, plus one in the Mod (No Box) final going 5.931 seconds at 111.13 mph on a 5.93 dial-in. Paired with a .005 reaction time and it was a hard-to-beat combination. Fred Berkheimer from South Carolina Motorplex finished in 6.526 seconds at 101.63 mph with a .034 reaction time for runner-up honors.

The Sportsman final saw Jeff Miller from Wilkesboro emerge victorious with a 9.751-second elapsed time on a 9.66 dial. Billy Dunn from South Carolina Motorplex had a nice .035 to .106 advantage at the tree, but broke out against his 7.99 dial-in.

Madison Krupa from South Carolina Motorplex bested Aus Danner from Shadyside in the Junior Dragster final. Krupa got the edge at the start .054 to. 068 and made a run of 8.582 seconds against an 8.51 dial-in. Danner broke out from her 8.02 dial-in with a pass of 8.009 seconds at 78.83 mph.

STEELE, Ala. — The fun continued Saturday with a third day of Gamblers races at the IHRA Division 8 Summit Team Finals presented by ProMaxx Performance Products, LLC at Alabama International Dragway.

Lance Kittle from the host track captured the Box championship in a competitive final round with Hugh Harris, representing Brainerd Motorsports Park. Kittle posted a winning time of 6.067 seconds at 110.72 mph. Harris had a slightly better start .014 to .017 and a fast time of 4.643 seconds at 142.22 mph rocketing down the drag strip.

Another Alabama International Dragway driver, Doyle Kay, was the winner in the Box class. He posted a run of 6.339 seconds at 101.86 mph, combined with .042 reaction time. Billy Parker from I-22 Motorsports Park was runner-up as his 6.592-second pass at 103.71 mph was disqualified for being -.002 too quick at the start.

It was an all-Knoxville Dragway final in Sportsman as Justin Scarberry won with an 8.853-second run at 81.10 mph. Scarberry was .159 at the tree, but it worked out with David Muncey red-lighting at -.008 second. Muncey, who was looking for his second Gamblers victory of the weekend, went down the track in 10.690 seconds at 67.87 mph.

Brainerd Motorsports Park racers Maddox Millard and Landon Grayson faced off in the Junior Dragster final. Millard took home the trophy with a 7.909-second pass at 79.48 mph and a .132 reaction time. Grayson got the better jump at .091 seconds and finished in 8.177 seconds at 78.00 mph.

NEESES, S.C. — Five racers representing the home track at South Carolina Motorplex won Thursday Gamblers races at the IHRA Division 9 (Raiders) Summit Team Finals.

Raymond Perry drove his red Ford Falcon to the Box victory by being dead-on plus two against his 5.83 dial-in. He sped down the 1/8-mile in 115.80 mph and had a .023 better reaction time than final-round opponent Wayne Couick. Representing Pageland Dragway, Couick powered down the track in 5.236 seconds at 132.90 in his sharp green Ford Mustang.

There was more Blue Oval power in the No Box final as Shelly Salmond’s blue Mustang was victorious against the green Chevy Nova of Chad Dotson. Salmond had a .038 start to go along with a run of 6.217 seconds at 107.44 mph against a 6.21 dial-in. Dotson got off the line in .046 seconds and was just a tad too quick on his run of 6.419 seconds at 104.04 mph against a 6.42 dial-in.

Ethan Santmeyer defeated Aiden Chavis in a battle of SC Motorplex racers in the Junior Dragster final. Santmeyer had the terrific .005 start to go along with a 7.921-second run at 78.98 mph on a 7.90 dial-in. Chavis had a potential winning effort of 7.904 seconds at 82.56 mph on a 7.90 dial-in negated by triggering the red light.

Plenty more Gamblers action took place Friday with Savannah Bolton from SC Motorplex winning the Box final on a holeshot.

Marion Cox added to the list of SC Motorplex winners, taking the No Box final over Robert Rayfield from Pageland Dragway. Cox eased down the drag strip in 7.204 seconds at 71.30 mph after Rayfield was just -.003 too quick at the start. The foul spoiled a potential winning pass of 5.933 seconds at 112.95 mph on a 5.93 dial-in by Rayfield.

Rylan Williams captured Friday’s Junior Dragster final as Chavis again finished runner-up. Williams made a 7.965-second run at 79.28 mph along with a .071 start. Chavis had a great 7.903-second run at 82.31 mph on a 7.90 dial-in, but had a -.005 too quick reaction time.
