Dallas Area Track Joins IHRA Family

Monday, 03 April 2017

Xtreme Raceway Park in the metropolitan Dallas area has signed a multi-year sanctioning agreement with the International Hot Rod Association.

Scheduled to open October 1, the 90-acre complex in Ferris, Texas will feature an 1/8-mile, all-concrete track with concrete walls from the burnout box to the end of the track. There will be five suites, six staging lanes, 400 feet long, and a 200-feet sand safety pit.

Track owner Clyde Scott races a Pro Modified car, but he loves the IHRA’s commitment to grassroots, Sportsman racers seen through its partnership with ESPN3.

“Being sanctioned by IHRA, it gives me a platform for a healthy bracket racing program,” Scott said. “Bracket racers, those are the same people who will come support other races. They come and watch your Pro Mod shows, your Outlaw 10.5s and your drag radial classes.”

“Location, location, location is everything,” said Phil Gingerich, IHRA special advisor for track development. “It’s only 20 miles from downtown Dallas and off Interstate 45 headed to Houston. It’s a route traveled by so many people in Texas, so the location is perfect. It’s going to be a great new venue and when it’s done, it’s probably going to be one of the top five tracks in the country.”
