Jason Rupert just HAMMERS both ends of the IHRA Amsoil Nitro Funny Car record with a 5.555@262.39 mph!

Friday, 07 August 2015

A hearty Nitro Jam crowd braved a few evening showers to witness an amazing match up between Mike McIntire, the current IHRA record holder and Jason Rupert. Not only have these two competitors been neck and neck in the IHRA World Championship points battle in Amsoil Nitro Funny Car presented by Aeromotive. Rupert and McIntire have been pushing the world record mark much of this season. Each racer could benefit their championship bid with valuable points earned by resetting the world record.

Rupert’s performance of 5.555 surpasses the current IHRA record by over 1/10th of a second. The Rupert and Bays Camaro also eclipsed the current speed record as well by almost 2 miles-per-hour at 262.39 mph. IHRA rules dictate that a professional category record must be followed up by another pass within 1% of the record pass within the same event.

Stay tuned at nitrojam.com and ihra.com for news on Rupert's world record back up attempt and all of the Northern Nationals presented by Aeromotive racing action.
