Elliser, Sequin and other event winners, who are IHRA member racers, received a prestigious IHRA Ironman trophy.
With the event tailored to State Capitol’s weekly program, Elliser from Avondale, La., won the $2,000 prize for the Super Pro class beating Dave Robinson from Baker, La., in the final round. Robinson captured the $400 runner-up prize.
Sequin from Greenwell Springs, La., was the winner in the Mod ET race. He got the better of Lou Mougeot from Erwinville, La., in the final round to claim a $1,200 winner’s purse.
Dave Walker from Denham Springs, La., was the Top Doorslammers victor, taking home the $1,000 top prize. Walker bested Chris Huesers from Rayne, La., in the final.
Mike Nicoll from Tickfaw, La., also claimed a $1,000 winner’s check for his Quick 16 victory. Morgan Torres was the runner-up in the Quick 16 race.
The Sequin family had double reason to celebrate when Rhett Sequin powered to the Street victory. Johnny Olinde was the runner-up.
Coby LeBlanc drove his red pickup down the strip for the Sportsman victory. Another Olinde made the final-round with David Olinde taking runner-up honors.
There was plenty of action in the Junior Dragster ranks as well.
Sebastian Hickey from Pontchoula, La., was the Masters winner, taking the win over Eli Hebert from Basile, La. for the winner’s prize. Hickey added an Ironman trophy later in the day by winning a Junior Dragster run-off.
Ethan LeJeune from Church Point, La., showed the advanced skills to win the Advanced race, besting Logan Gordon in the final round.
Slade Olinde from Ventress, La., added to the Olinde harvest by winning the Beginner class. His final-round foe was Knight Haire from New Iberia, La.
The IHRA Sportsman Spectacular presented by Hagerty and Moser Engineering returns in a big way in March. Farmington Dragway hosts a double-event weekend March 20-22. A single-day event will take place at Holly Springs Motorsports on Sunday, March 22.
