COVID-19 Race Weekend Operations and Guidelines:

Please familiarize yourself with these rules before arriving.  The biggest local health department Covid-19 stipulation is that there are no spectators permitted and no more than 3 crew members permitted with each driver.  There are no exceptions.

In addition to the local health department’s rules, the IHRA has implemented additional protocols to cut down on points of contact for everyone’s safety.

Entry and Registration:

1.If you arrive Friday for the track’s Test & Tune, you will purchase your credentials from the front gate as normal.  If you are staying to race Saturday and Sunday you will need to visit the IHRA trailer next to the staging lanes to get your weekend race and crew wristbands during Friday’s test session.  Everyone will purchase a weekend race entry and we will refund you for the Sunday portion once you are done racing on Saturday if you only race Saturday.
2.The IHRA credential trailer is outfitted with lexan shields on the window as well as hand sanitizing area.  You will receive a tech card and the waiver sheets for everyone with you.  You will fill those out at your convenience back in your pit area and return them to the IHRA trailer when you come back with your car for tech.
3.Those racers that arrive Saturday morning will purchase their weekend race and crew credentials at the front gate as normal.  You will be given your tech card and waiver sheets to fill out in your pit area once you park.  You will return the tech card and waiver sheets to the IHRA trailer when you come to tech.
4.IHRA officials will be wearing masks and gloves (officials that need to hand you things or tech your car).  We ask that you show them the same courtesy by wearing a mask when you come to the trailer or to tech and maintain the social distancing guidelines by stepping away from your car during the tech process.
5.To minimize contact, the driver will be issued the driver and crew wristbands and will be responsible for wearing the competitor band and putting the crew bands on all crew members.  Any racer or crew seen without a wristband will be DQ’d from the event and will have to leave the property.

Race Operation:

1.It is impossible to talk to an official without being within 6’ at a drag race and the tower and all race officials are considered off limits.  The starter and staging lane personnel will not be in masks so they can perform their job functions properly.  This means that all questions, concerns, complaints, etc. need to go to the IHRA trailer where we can ensure the point of contact is safe for everyone.  The trailer staff will radio the tower and we will get your questions handled promptly.
2.We will call classes by even and odd car numbers and will be using every other staging lane to cut down on the number of people and proximity of people in the lanes.  The rear of staging official will be mixing up cars as they enter the staging lanes.  We will pull cars and make pairs by lane (front to back) with the first car going in the left lane and the second car going in the right lane.
3.Buybacks will be purchased at the IHRA trailer and you will be given a ticket to turn in to the rear of staging official when you come back for the next round.  We will call up buybacks first for round 2 followed by everyone else.  It is possible that the last buyback car may run a 1st round winner in the second round.  Everyone is in the second round.
4.Payout will be by check and will be distributed from the IHRA trailer.  Expect the checks to be ready 30 minutes after the round is over.
