The JR Race Car junior dragster, featuring a custom paint scheme from Jerron Settles of Imagine That Customs, will be awarded to the series’ champion later today at the IHRA Summit World Finals at Memphis International Raceway.
JR Race Car is a manufacturer of Junior Dragsters and parts, and the title sponsor of the IHRA JR Race Car Junior Dragster program in the Summit SuperSeries. This will be the fourth straight year that JR Race Car will provide a custom-built car to the Summit SuperSeries Junior Dragster National Champion.
“With the custom paint job and everything on it, the detailing we put into it, that makes it perfect for a championship car,” JR Race Car Sales Manager Kevin Horner said. “It’s always special for us how everyone has their eyes on it. When someone takes that car home, it’s special for all of us.”
The JR Race Car Junior Dragster division provides safe, sanctioned competition for young racers between the ages of seven and 17, and an opportunity for the whole family to get involved.
Founded in 1992, JR Race Car began manufacturing parts for the new Junior Drag Racing program. The company initially offered components such as turn-key Junior Dragster chassis, engines, clutches and chassis components which JR Race Car manufactured in-house from the beginning.
For more than two decades, JR Race Car has led the way in Junior Dragster manufacturing from initially machining a large portion of the CNC parts for other vendors in the market to designing and machining its own ZR, Titan and ZR4 Engines and revolutionizing the market with the Shockwave and Shockwave OD CVT (centrifugally variable transmission) clutches and the innovative Hercules Chassis.
