Thunder Jam makes triumphant return to the ALL NEW Edinburg Raceway April 28 with ‘monster’ show

Wednesday, 10 April 2013

Monster matchups, monster show and monster trucks.

Thunder Jam’s return to the all-new Edinburg Raceway April 28 certainly has all the makings for one of the biggest shows in Thunder Jam history.

Home to one of the biggest crowds in series history, Thunder Jam will make its triumphant return to the all-new Edinburg Raceway under the direction of new owner Freddy Cruz with a show that promises to rock south Texas featuring the Grave Digger and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle monster trucks going head-to-head, jumping cars and even racing a jet dragster in addition to performances by the Chevy Rebellion wheelstander, the 300 mph Spirit of Alabama jet dragster and a huge sportsman showdown featuring over $1 million dollars worth of the most powerful drag cars on earth.

And it can all be seen for the incredible price of $20 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under.

Grave Digger 38

“This is the event everyone has been waiting for,” said Thunder Jam Operations Manager Jim Marchyshyn. “Edinburg has long been one of the biggest stops for Thunder Jam and now we are returning with a show unlike any other. And with the creative assistance of new owner Freddy Cruz, we expect to put on a show south Texas fans will be talking about for a long, long time.”

Easily the “biggest” main event in Thunder Jam history, the main attraction at the Edinburg Thunder Jam will be the south Texas debut of the monster truck showdown between the Grave Digger monster truck driven by Monster Jam superstar Randy Brown and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle piloted by Joey Parnell. Not only will these two incredible machines go head-to-head, but Edinburg fans will also see them jump cars and even race a 300 mph jet dragster all on tires bigger than most full-size racecars.

And the jet dragster in the middle of that madness is the famous Spirit of Alabama. Capable of speeds of over 300 mph with a huge fire and smoke show to boot, the Spirit of Alabama will test its might in a handicap race against a truck 10 times its size.

Also in action at the Edinburg Thunder Jam will be Richard Hutchins’ “Chevy Rebellion” wheelstander powering down the quarter-mile on only its rear wheels and over $1 million dollars worth of the most powerful drag cars on the planet competing for a coveted Ironman trophy in the DRM Ironman Classic.

And the entire event will take place at the all-new Edinburg Raceway. New owner Freddy Cruz promises a night fans will never forget as he prepares the only dragstrip south of San Antonio for its biggest event of the year.

“There will be plenty of great food and great fun to go along with this incredible show,” Cruz said. “We can’t wait to have this event here in Edinburg and we look forward to presenting the fans of south Texas with one of the biggest events around.”

In addition to all the on-track action, fans will also be able to take part in the AMSOIL Pit Party right before the start of the show. The AMSOIL Pit Party features driver autographs including an opportunity to meet Monster Jam stars Randy Brown and Joey Parnell, get up close and personal with Grave Digger, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and all of the stars of Thunder Jam and an opportunity to win cool prizes and tour the pits.

Tickets for the April 28 event are just $20 for adults and $10 for children (12 and under).Tickets are available day of show at the gate. Gates open at 4 p.m. And, as always, parking and access to the Thunder Fest Pit Party is free with admission.
