Submitted by tylers on Thu, 05/29/2025 - 11:18 WEST SALEM, Ohio — Josh Adkins hails from Sandusky, Ohio, a city known for its thrill rides at the famed Cedar Point amusement park. Adkins had his own thrill ride over the weekend with his brown Chevrolet Camaro racing to back-to-back Mod wins at the IHRA Summit SuperSeries season opener at Dragway 42. It was a slightly better start that proved the difference on Saturday as he and final-round opponent Amy Reed were both right on their dial-in times. Turning the page, he took advantage of Mark Provost being a little too quick on the light to win Sunday’s race. There were plenty of other weekend winners with a fantastic .007 reaction time by Jacob Meinart on Saturday leading to his win over Bob Pifer in the Top final. Denny Nyegran took the Motorcycle win as Steve Huckabee faced some mechanical issues. Jeremy Murray had the better start at the tree to take the Street win over Scotty Chitty. There were three different classes of Junior Dragsters with Ryan Goodman over Brooke Bittle in the Master final, Aly Hurst getting the best of Brayden Baehr in Advanced and Cayden Valtman the winner in Beginner over Bentlee Baehr. In addition, there were 32-car shootouts for the Box and No Box cars. Chris Wallin won Box when final-round opponent Chris Seibert broke out by the slightest of margins. John Bailey won the Mod final in similar fashion against Cadence Soucek. The All-Junior Shootout saw Stefan Huckabee win as Brayden Baehr was just -.002 too quick at the start. On Sunday, Scotty Chitty parked his purple Camaro in victory lane after winning on a holeshot against Cory Blackford. Austin Poole earned family bragging rights after beating Rick Poole in the Motorcycle final. Dan Imhoff was the Street winner as Bob Stephans went under his dial-in time. There was great competition in the Junior Dragster ranks as well. Maleah Mosley denied Ryan Goodman a weekend sweep by edging him in the Junior Master final. However, Aly Hurst did sweep the weekend by beating another member of the Baehr family, Abigail, in the Advanced final. Brendan Schultze finished off the list of winners in the Beginner class where he edged out Jacob Coury in the final. The next pair of IHRA Summit SuperSeries points races at Dragway 42 are scheduled for June 13-14.
