BUNKER HILL, Ind. — Historic Bunker Hill Dragstrip hosts the Ironman Classic on Saturday as part of an exciting two days of IHRA Summit SuperSeries racing.

Racers in five different classes — Top (Box), Mod (No Box), Motorcycles, Sportsman and Junior Dragster — will compete for the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophies on Saturday. Another full day of IHRA SuperSeries competition is set for Sunday.

Located a little over an hour north of Indianapolis, Bunker Hill is one of the country’s most storied raceways, first opened in 1956, making it the oldest drag strip in Indiana.

There are $1,200-to-win races for both the Top and Mod classes with a $55 entry fee. The Box Motorcycle class offers a $440-to-win payout and it’s $400 for the Sportsman race. It costs $50 to enter the Motorcycle race and $35 entry for Sportsman. The Junior Dragsters are racing for a $250 winner’s purse with a $25 entry. Adding to the value, it’s also an IHRA Summit SuperSeries points race.

The IHRA Ironman Classic program is offered to all IHRA member tracks. Prior to this program, a Sportsman racer could only win an Ironman if they traveled to an IHRA Summit Team Finals, Sportsman Spectacular or World Finals. This program gives local tracks a chance to create extra excitement in their bracket program and offer competitors a chance to win the prestigious Ironman.

Gates open at 11 a.m. with time trials to begin at 1 p.m. and eliminations to follow. Spectator cost is $10 with kids 12-under admitted free.
