PADUACH, Ky. — Four racers scored wins in the IHRA Sportsman Spectacular last Saturday at Beacon Dragway, while champions were crowned in different classes.

With a large turnout of racers, Kyle Clapp (Top), Jock Greene (Mod), Toby Daniels (Sportsman) and Hope Capley (Junior Dragster) took home big checks and special IHRA Ironman trophies for their Sportsman Spectacular victories.

Clapp won the IHRA Sportsman Spectacular race and also bolted all the way from seventh in points to the track championship. With Clapp qualifying for the IHRA World Finals in the Top (Box) class, it opened the door for second-place Jared Fulcher to race for the world championship.

Greene captured the victory over 2023 IHRA World Champion Wesley Lockhart in the Mod (No Box) final. It still was a productive day for Lockhart, who wrapped up the Beacon Dragway track championship. Again, it gave two drivers the chance to race at the IHRA World Finals.

The Sportsman final saw Daniels take the victory over runner-up Jessie Grooms. But the fourth round also provided its share of excitement. Austin Thurston turned on the win light against Gary Doon in a race to decide the track championship.
