SHELBY, N.C. — Shadyside Dragway, which recently gained national recognition for its huge Ronnie Buff Memorial King of the South event, hosted its Chasing the Championship Points Series over the weekend.

The track participates in the IHRA Summit SuperSeries program, the most prestigious national championship in all of bracket racing.

Joe Hartsell raced to the Super Pro victory at the 1/8-mile drag strip an hour outside of Charlotte, leaving Bus Humphries behind in the final round. Matt Ward took the Pro victory as he mashed the gas in his Camaro to beat runner-up Tater Dotson.

Robert Hamrick was victorious in the Sportsman class as Cody Dickerson was his final-round opponent. The other IHRA Summit SuperSeries points winner was Jaydn Price in the Junior Dragsters, who nabbed the win over Hunter Buchanan.

It featured other racing as well with Ed Pauley scoring the win in the 6.0 Index class as David Lester also advanced to the final round. Oakley Humphries was the winner of the TCR race with Joseph Monteleone taking the runner-up spot.

Cameron Dabbs shifted his way to the win in the Kenny G’s H-Pattern Mania race. Shadyside hosts test-and-tune sessions each Thursday. The next Chase the Championship Series points race is set for July 26.
