TOP FUEL Start with Scott Palmer, Top Fuel winner of the inaugural IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series race at Darana Raceway - Hebron (formerly National Trail Raceway). Palmer has reached top speeds on land and water. The veteran competitor has raced both in Top Fuel dragsters, reaching speeds around 330 mph on the track, and in the Lucas Oil Drag Boat Racing Series. In addition, he’s one of the most passionate Outlaw Pro Mod racers in the country. Kyle Satenstein is an up-and-coming racer from New York, who is living the dream of bracket racers everywhere. After a successful career racing in the Northeast and Canada, he recently ran a 3.93-second pass at 1,000 feet at the Canadian Nitro Nationals to earn his Top Fuel license. Lex Joon, a native of the Netherlands, is a former FIA Top Fuel Drag Racing Champion in Europe. He’s earned the title “Europe’s Most Successful Top Fuel Racer” and the nickname, “The Flying Dutchman.” Now based in Indiana, Joon has an unrelenting passion for speed. Mitch King is another veteran of the Top Fuel ranks. Many fans know King from both his time racing Top Fuel and the famous Bone Shaker in Funny Car Chaos. King, nicknamed “The Candy Man from Galveston,” attends to the candy store he owns in Texas when not drag racing. Chuck Loftin will be making his IHRA debut in King’s Top Fuel dragster this weekend. Loftin is a versatile racer who has also made his mark competing in Top Alcohol Funny Cars and Fuel Altereds. He’s best known for racing the Motivation Mustang in Funny Car Chaos. FUNNY CAR Del Worsham, the 1992 IHRA Funny Car World Champion, advanced to the final round of eliminations at Darana Raceway. The legendary racer is one of only three men to win world championships in both Top Fuel and Funny Car. Worsham posted both the quickest time and top speed during eliminations at the Darana opener. Tod Barker had a strong run going in the first round of eliminations at the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series opener. But for the first time in his career, he ended in the sand trap at the end of the track. Hard at work since then, his car has been fixed and looks better than ever heading into Milan. Dale Creasy Jr., the 2006 IHRA Funny Car World Champion, is entered in this weekend’s races. Creasy was eliminated in round 1 at Darana Raceway, but the legendary driver will look to bounce back at Milan, where he’s a former race winner. Jack Wyatt, a multi-time winner on the IHRA tour, is another of the top guns expected to contend for the victory. Wyatt, who has five decades of experience behind the wheel, had the tough first-round matchup against eventual race winner Mike McIntire at Darana. Jody Austin and his BushWhacker Nitro Funny Car is another one entered in this weekend’s races. An accomplished racer in a variety of rides, Austin won the World Fuel Altered Nationals in 2024. Dan Hix is another racer who’s had success as both a Funny Car and Fuel Altered winner. The HEATSEEKER Racing driver is a five-time winner of the prestigious March Meet in California. It’s quite the field of talented racers who promise to make the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series at Darana Dragway, a can’t-miss event.
