Submitted by tylers on Fri, 05/16/2025 - 20:38 ODESSA, Texas — Mikel McQueen doubled up with both Box and No Box victories at IHRA Summit SuperSeries points races at Penwell Knights Raceway last weekend. McQueen had solid starts in both classes. His .014 reaction time gave him an early advantage over Mason Bomar in the Box final. His winning run of 5.046 seconds at 129.68 mph against a 5.03 dial-in. He then used a .015 start in No Box as final-round opponent Stan Hammond triggered the red light. Clay Gossett took the Sportsman win over Jerron Madrid with a final-round package of 7.820 seconds and a .063 reaction time. Jon McDaniel also won on a holeshot in the Motorcycle final against Tadd Sprayberry. Among the youth racers, Cooper Calley won a close race over Barrett Gaddis in Junior Dragster and Shane McKinney got the best of Mallorie Stevens in the Teen Challenge. A couple of Gamblers races were also contestd. Dylan Moody had the great launch in the Box class with a .008 start combined with a 4.663-second elapsed time at 147.93 mph on a 4.66 dial-in to get the measure of Dave Brandenburg. Mike Herndon was the No Box Gamblers winner over Evan Santos with a 6.791-second pass at 99.65 mph against a 6.77 dial-in, along with a .013 start.
