2026 Outlaw Nitro Series Points Structure Updates

The International Hot Rod Association is implementing an update to our championship points structure to better reward qualifying performance across our professional categories.

Under the revised system, competitors will continue to receive 10 points for making an attempt to qualify, as is currently in place. In addition, drivers who successfully qualify for the event will now receive an extra 20 qualifying points.

This change addresses a previous points gap seen in classes such as Mountain Motor Pro Stock, where a driver who qualified but was eliminated in the first round without earning bonus points received the same total points as a non-qualifier. With the new structure, qualifying drivers will be properly recognized for earning a position in the field.

Key Update:

- Competitors will continue to receive 10 points for making a qualifying attempt

- Drivers who qualify will now receive an additional 20 points

- All other elements of the points structure, including round wins and bonus points, will remain unchanged

We are committed to ensuring our points system reflects on-track performance. This update reinforces the value of qualifying and ensures those who earn a spot in the field are rewarded accordingly.

The revised structure will be implemented across applicable IHRA professional categories effective immediately.
