Submitted by tylers on Sun, 07/13/2025 - 11:03 HEBRON, Ohio — Scott Palmer and Krista Baldwin advanced to the Top Fuel final on Saturday night at the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series season opener at Darana Raceway. A long rain delay halted action earlier in the day meant final rounds will be contested Sunday. Action fires up at 10 a.m. with the races live streamed on IHRA.TV. Palmer, the No. 1 qualifier, defeated Chuck Loftin in the quarterfinal, and then defeated veteran Doug Foley in the semifinal. Foley made everyone stand up and take notice with a run of 3.825 seconds and 321.88 mph in his round 1 win over Cameron Ferre. The run set both low elapsed time and the top speed for eliminations. Baldwin defeated Mitch King in round 1 and then got a free pass in the semifinal when Lex Joon shut down at the starting line. Joon previously scored a first-round win over Will Smith. FUNNY CAR Former IHRA World Champion Del Worsham and No. 1 qualifier Mike McIntire advanced to the Funny Car final. Worsham defeated Joey Haas in the quarterfinal and Terry Haddock in the semifinal. Worsham made a 4.063-second pass at 317.79 mph to edge Haddock who finished at 4.073 and 310.20 mph. Haddock defeated another IHRA World Champion, Dale Creasy Jr. in round 1. McIntire beat Jody Austin in the first round and then peddled past Jack Wyatt in a semifinal that saw both have trouble getting down the track. Wyatt defeated Tod Barker in the first round. North Carolina racers Dale Brinsfield and Tony Wilson will face off in the Pro Nitrous final. Wilson had a little quicker reaction time. That proved to be the difference in a semifinal win by just .002 second over Jim Widener. Mountain Motor Pro Stock saw Jeremy Huffman follow up his No. 1 qualifying with the low elapsed time of the weekend. He will take on Jerry Tucker in the semifinal round. Chris Powers, who won with a .005 light over John DeFlorian in the quarterfinal, will face Johnny Pluchino in the other semifinal. Mike Coughlin and Jackie Fricke advanced to the Top Alcohol Dragster final. Coughlin got down the track smoothly to beat No. 1 qualifier Megan Lingner in the semifinal round.
