Image × SALEM, Ohio — Racers took advantage of multiple opportunities to get on track at the IHRA Division 3 (North Stars) Team Finals over the weekend. Beyond the main event and Run 4 Money, they competed in the Race of Champions and two separate Gamblers races. RACE OF CHAMPIONS Scott Hessler headlined the Race of Champions winners with his victory over Rich Coury in the Top (No Box) final. Jeff Hura was the Mod (No Box) race winner, with Daled Davis advancing to the final round. Former IHRA SuperSeries World Champion Joe Tharp Jr. earned another marquee win in Sportsman as Steve Collier was the runner-up. Matt Knaggs picked up the Motorcycle win with Rick Poole as his final-round opponent. Liam Miller, who won the Junior Dragster main event in 2024, beat Asher Cueni in their final. FRIDAY GAMBLERS Plenty of racers participated in the Friday Gamblers, with Andrew Waddle besting Mark Gwin in the Top final. Clair Reed came through with the winning effort in Mod with Candence Soucek as the final-round opponent. Matt Uyselt won in Sportsman, as Steve Collier made another final round. Austin Poole gave his family plenty to cheer about in the Motorcycle final with a win over Jeff Dennis. Ben Reily won his matchup with Ava Miller in the Junior Dragster final. THURSDAY GAMBLERS The fun started Thursday with Charlie Brown scoring the Gamblers’ victory with Greg Myers as the runner-up. Steve Collier started his streak of three straight final rounds with a Thursday win over William Tishko in Mod. Codie Balcom captured the Sportsman win, with Chris Klein also making the final round. Rick McWaters won in Motorcycle, while Tony Despenes got off to a great start as runner-up. Despenes would win the main event later in the weekend. Ben Newton rounded out the list of winners in Junior Dragster, with Ryan Goodman also in the final round. The IHRA Team Finals continue this week with the Division 4 (Renegades) Finals at Xtreme Raceway Park and the Division 9 Finals at Union County Dragway.
