The 2013 IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL Division 1 season continues May 31-June 2 at Pittsburgh Raceway Park in Pennsylvania with a Pro-Am/Nitro Jam double weekend. This exciting showdown will feature a full racing weekend with a test and tune on Friday and qualifying and racing Saturday and Sunday for sportsman competitors and a one-night-only professional show Saturday night. All classes will be run on the 1/4 mile with the exception of Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and all of the professional classes which will run to 1,000 feet.

WHAT TO EXPECT: The race at Pittsburgh Raceway Park will be the second stop on the Division 1 Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL and the fifth stop for the Nitro Jam Tour. Pittsburgh is a popular track among the racers and the fans and this year’s event certainly will not disappoint with a one-night-only Nitro Jam show Saturday night and two full days of sportsman racing Saturday and Sunday.
Friday gates will be open at 9 a.m. with tech open from Noon-9 p.m. followed by a track hosted test and tune from 2-6 p.m. The track will also host bonus racing Friday evening beginning at 6:15 p.m.
Saturday racer gates will open at 7 a.m. and tech will be open at 8 a.m. Two rounds of time trials/qualifying for sportsman competitors will begin at 9 a.m. followed immediately by Day 1 eliminations. Nitro Jam will begin at 7 p.m. with two rounds of professional racing. Sunday racer gates will open at 8 a.m. with God Speed Church service at 8:30 a.m. and one round of qualifying/time trials beginning at 9:30 a.m. Day 2 eliminations will immediately follow.

Saturday Nitro Jam – Sportsman winners during Saturday’s Nitro Jam/Pro-Am doubleheader will receive a special edition Nitro Jam Ironman plus an opportunity to compete in front of an anticipated capacity crowd.

FAST FACTS: Pittsburgh Raceway Park is a staple on the IHRA Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour, having hosted races in multiple divisions steadily over the past several years. This year Pittsburgh will be part of Division 1 along with Richmond Dragway and Maryland International Raceway…This event used to be held in July and August, but was moved to early June for last year’s debut of Nitro Jam at PRP…With such a rich history hosting the IHRA Pro-Am series, Pittsburgh has seen some true greats make passes at the legendary facility. Some of the best-of-the-best at Pittsburgh over the last five years include three-time winners Craig Marshall and Brian Folk and four-time finalist John Dustin. Marshall reached four final rounds, with his last coming in 2011. Dustin, a two-time winner, also reached his last final round at PRP in 2011…The last racer to double-up at Pittsburgh’s Pro-Am with two wins in one weekend was David Moore in 2011…Between 2008-2009, Nick and Brian folk visited six finals with five wins in four different classes…Other drivers with more than one victory at Pittsburgh since 2008 include Scott Wasko, Pete D’Agnolo, Michael Beard, Greg Fowler, Kathy Fisher, Ronnie Proctor and Brad Slaughter…Reining Hot Rod World Champion and Pittsburgh native Patrick Forster has never won at his home track, recording a pair of runner-up finishes five years apart in 2012 and 2008.
ROAD TO THE TOC: In 2013 the Summit Racing Equipment Pro-Am Tour presented by AMSOIL is now the only road to the year-end Summit Racing Tournament of Champions showdown in Memphis. Only the top three in each class within each division on the Summit Pro-Am Tour will advance to the championship tournament in October to runoff for the 2013 Summit World Championships and $10,000!
