“To be deemed Miss Nitro Jam is more than an honor. I am so stoked to be a part of such a great affiliation,” Powell said. “I look forward to the races, meeting all of the drivers and spending time with the wonderful fans of the Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series. I truly can’t wait to hit the road next season.”
Powell, a Houston, Texas resident, is very familiar with the world of motorsports, having spent time as both a spokesmodel and racer during her career. Powell has worked as a spokesmodel for numerous companies in the automotive industry, including Z1 Motorsports, Dunlop Tires, Pirelli Tires and Rockstar Energy Drink, as well as spending more than a decade behind the wheel in multiple racing series.
“When I was younger, my mother used to race, and my father had an automotive shop, so I have always been around cars and racing,” Powell said. “As I got older, I tried cheerleading and other activities, but my heart was always in racing. When I discovered my first shop class, it was all downhill from there.
“I have been racing for more than 10 years, driving professionally for six and instructing for three. During that same time I have modeled for some of the industry’s leading automotive brands. People like to think of me as this ‘nice girl from Georgia,’ but I am much more than that and when you put me behind the wheel, I am as tough as they come.”
Powell and the rest of the stars of the Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series will partake in a 9-month, 12-event journey stretching from southern Florida to northern Washington and even into Canada, beginning in February and ending with the Summit Racing Equipment World Finals at Memphis International Raceway in October.
