Debuting with the IHRA in the early 1990s and born from IHRA’s revolutionary Top Sportsman class, the stars of Pro Modified will return to the IHRA in 2015 led by new class sponsor: Crower Racing Products. The class will feature quarter-mile competition and an open field at most all Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series events.
Pro Mod will compete at eight Nitro Jam events in 2015, beginning with Bradenton Motorsports Park (April 17-18), followed by Palm Beach International Raceway (April 24-25), Cordova International Raceway (May 29-30), Maryland International Raceway (June 19-20), Grand Bend Motorplex (June 26-28), US 131 Motorsports Park (August 7-8), Dragway 42 (September 11-12) and Memphis International Raceway for the Summit Racing Equipment World Finals (October 9-10).
“One of our primary goals with Pro Mod in IHRA was to be less restrictive with regard to performance limitations and body style applications. We currently have a set of parameters that will permit the use of most body styles in existence today, combined with virtually any V-8 power combinations available in the market,” said Mike Baker, Senior Director of Racing Operations. “We hope to provide a platform where nitrous oxide, supercharged, turbo and pro charged combinations have the opportunity to compete to win an IHRA Ironman. I realize that we may have to review these limitations over the course of the season, however I believe the rules we have in place provide an excellent place to start as we reintroduce the class to our Nitro Jam fans.”
