Following the postponement of the Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals in Grand Bend due to weather, Lyle and MaryAnn Williams made the further commitment to be involved with IHRA drag racing through their Williams Mobile Service and Williams Racing. The partnership begins with the rescheduled Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Williams Racing on August 15-16, 2015.
“Williams Racing was fortunate to have worked with Steven Cole in 2014 to bring John Force to Ontario,” said MaryAnn Williams, President of Williams Racing. “It came as a shock to us when Steven called to tell us he left JFR to pursue an opportunity with IHRA,” MaryAnn continued. “We have kept in contact over the many months and we were so thrilled when we found out IHRA was involved in a big way at the Mopar Nationals in Grand Bend this year, which is our home track. We look forward to working closely again with Steven Cole, IHRA, and the many other sponsors who are striving to bring back drag racing to Canada.”
Williams Mobile Service was established in 2001 after Lyle Williams worked in the hydraulic business for over 30 years through various companies, both Canadian and U.S. based. The Williams decided to take a chance and start their own business and soon discovered that they had the support of many past customers. Within six months of inception, they had built a solid footing within the hydraulic business in Ontario.
Williams Mobile Service is a 24 hour a day, seven day a week, emergency call out company offering a mobile solution to hydraulic, and aerial man lift/crane needs. They do everything from annual inspections, dielectric testing, acoustic emission testing, hot stick testing and all major/minor repairs to all makes and models at the customer's facilities. They strive to get their customers the same day or 24 hours service after a reported breakdown.
“It’s folks like the Williams that make IHRA a special place to race,” remarked Scott Gardner, President of the IHRA. “Their commitment to racing as well as to the event clearly demonstrates their willingness to step up and get involved.”
“Sportsman racing in Canada is where the true racers get to play affordably,” Williams Racing team driver and owner, Lyle Williams stated. “It's where you get to mix racing with a little bit of camping on the side and something that the whole family can enjoy doing. Sportsman racing is really all about the grassroots of racing, especially up here in Canada. Drag racing in Canada has slowly been dying off over the years and it's in dire need of revitalization. Williams Racing saw an opportunity to partner as a sponsor with IHRA for the Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals and bring families back to the track. We are so happy that the IHRA realizes how important a grassroots style of drag racing is to the little guy, and we look forward to everything the IHRA has to offer.”
The rescheduled date for the Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals presented by Williams Racing at Grand Bend Motorplex is August 15 – 16, 2015.
