WELD is the undisputed leader in maximum performance wheels. Whether it’s hard core off road, on the track, or on the street, WELD wheels have unleashed the performance potential of all types of machines for nearly 50 years.
“WELD is proud to partner with the IHRA and be a part of their 2016 season,” said Norm Young, President and CEO of WELD. “WELD’s precision engineered drag racing wheels have been proven at tracks around the world. Each racing wheel we manufacture is engineered and crafted to win.”
As a part of the official wheel partnership, Weld will post a $100 bonus to one selected pro class and one selected sportsman class champion at each IHRA Drag Racing Series event in 2016. If the selected class winner has the Weld decal and is running a set of 4 Weld Wheels, the money will be paid to the class winner on the spot.
The selected classes eligible for the Weld bonus are:
Good Vibrations Texas Nationals - Amsoil Nitro Funny car and Good Vibrations Top Dragster
President's Cup Nationals - Pro Mod and Jiffy-Tite Quick Rod
Mopar Canadian Nationals - Pro Stock and Hot Rod
Mopar Rocky Mountain Nationals - Pro Mod and Good Vibrations Top Sportsman
Northern Nationals - Nitro Funny Car and Jiffy-Tite Super Rod
World Nationals - Pro Stock and Super Stock
The 2016 season will mark WELD’s inaugural year with the IHRA but they are no stranger to the racing world. The Missouri-based wheel company specializes in catering to the specific needs of today’s racer. Founded in 1967 by successful sprint car racer and entrepreneur Greg Weld, Weld Racing has been the technology pioneer and trend setter for the racing wheel industry.
“WELD has a rich history in racing and we are thrilled to be working with them in 2016,” stated IHRA President Mike Dunn. “They align themselves with many good people and companies including six-time IHRA World Champion Clay Millican, so we know we are in good company."
