Incredible horsepower and star power coming to IHRA Triple Crown at Maple Grove

MOHNTON, Pa. — Drag racing’s fastest cars and biggest stars are bringing the heat to Maple Grove Raceway on May 22-24 for the IHRA Triple Crown.

Fans can feel the thrill of 12,000-horsepower, fire-breathing Nitro Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars rocketing down the strip. 

Drivers have the additional allure of huge purses with $150,000 for each win at the Triple Crown races. If a driver can sweep all three races, which includes later events at Columbus and Memphis, he or she will earn a $1 million bonus. 

The biggest names in drag racing have entered the Maple Grove event. Ron Capps, the winningest active Nitro Funny Car driver, with 78 victories and three NHRA World Championships, is scheduled to bring his world-famous NAPA Toyota to the Pennsylvania drag strip.

Other huge names in an already-stacked Funny Car field include former IHRA World Champion Del Worsham, and such stalwarts as Bobby Bode, Dan Hix, Jeff Diehl, Paul Lee and Phil Burkart.

The Top Fuel ranks include most recent IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series winner Scott Palmer, who looks to tame his wild-bucking Professional Bull Riders ride. Maddi Gordon, a rising Top Fuel star and teammate to Capps, will be bringing her 330 mph-plus dragster to the historic event.

Other big names entered include former FIA European champion Lex Joon, Shawn Reed and Jasmine Salinas in another lightning-fast rocket. 

Beyond those classes, the other IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series classes will bring more earth-shaking, thundering action to the iconic track.

They include the outrageous Fuel Altered machines and the incredibly quick Top Alcohol Dragsters and Top Alcohol Funny Cars. There are also ground-pounding Pro Mods, Mountain Motor Pro Stocks, IHRA Factory Pro Stocks, and Top Fuel Motorcycles, the fastest bikes in the world.
