Shadyside Edges Elk Creek for IHRA Division 9 Team Championship

UNION, S.C. — Shadyside Dragway beat Elk Creek Dragway by the slimmest of margins to win the IHRA Division 9 (Raiders) Team Finals title.

Both teams ended with 54 points, but Shadyside had the tiebreaker to take the overall victory. Union County Dragway’s team was a close third with 48 points at their home track. Pageland Dragway finished fourth with 28 points, followed by Roxboro Motorsports Park and Custom T Motorsports Park.

Adam Quesenberry headlined the list of individual winners with his black and green dragster tops in the Top (Box) class. Robert Neal raced to a runner-up finish.

Chad Dotson drove his green Chevy Nova to the victory in the Mod (No Box) class with Matt Ward as his final-round opponent. Quesenberry and Dotson each received a $6,000 winner’s check and the prestigious IHRA Ironman trophy.

Rob Armstrong parked his blue and silver Nova in the winner’s circle and collected a $4,000 check for the Sportsman class. Aaron Plemmons was the runner-up.

The younger racers saw Charizma Jones get the win in Junior Dragster, with Brody Conner also advancing to the final round. Milo Rasmussen drove his Ford Mustang to the TCR win over Bryant Crawford in the final.

Division 9 drivers also competed in Run For Money races. Winners were: Freddie Abercrombie (Top), Trevor Jenkins (Mod), Robbie Philbeck (Sportsman) and Milo Rasmussen (Junior Dragster).

Special awards were as follows:
Best Appearing Car/Truck — Garrett Gilbert
Best Appearing Open Boyd — Trey Deese
Best Appearing Jr. Dragster — Colton Dodgen
Best Appearing Team — Elk Creek Dragway
Best Team Spirit — Shadyside Dragway
