The multi-year agreement continues Sunoco’s longstanding relationship with IHRA and continues to give the company a platform to provide its award-winning fuels and services to the sportsman and professional racing community.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to extend and expand our relationship with IHRA. Sunoco has been a longtime supporter of IHRA and our hearts are still in grassroots racing,” said Terry Thompson, Senior Sales Manager at Sunoco Racing Fuels. “We have always felt that IHRA can and should be successful and we have been onboard through good times and bad. It is incredible to see how successful the IHRA is again now that they are owned by IRG and have such a great management team in place. I fully expect the next three years to deliver dynamic growth that will exceed the remarkable accomplishments of the last few years and we want to be onboard for the thrill ride ahead.”
Sunoco got its start in 1886 in Pittsburgh, Pa. and has since grown into one of the largest gasoline distribution companies in the United States and the largest manufacturer of racing gasoline in the world. With its unmatched service and products, Sunoco has become a leader in the world of motorsports as well, acting as the Official Fuel of NASCAR, IndyCar and more than 60 additional racing series and sanctioning bodies worldwide.
“We are excited to continue our longstanding relationship with the great people at Sunoco Race Fuels,” said Scott Gardner, President of IHRA Motorsports. “In addition to our great relationship with folks like Terry Thompson and the tracks over the past several years, we are also very much looking forward to partnering with the Sunoco retail brand team in sponsoring the Palm Beach national event and bringing fun and exciting promotions to our race fans.”
In addition to providing its award-winning race fuels at hundreds of IHRA racing events throughout the year, Sunoco Race Fuels will act as the presenting sponsor for the IHRA Palm Beach Nationals at Palm Beach International Raceway the weekend of April 24-25. As the cornerstone of IRG’s family of tracks, Palm Beach International Raceway will host a pivotal stop on the 2015 Nitro Jam Drag Racing Series calendar as the competitors of AMSOIL Nitro Funny Car, Nitro Harley, Crower Pro Mod, US Bounty Hunters Pro Stock and Jet Dragster travel to south Florida for stop four of 12 on the 2015 NJDRS.
“We are very excited about renewing our partnership with Sunoco and extremely happy that the brand side has joined the racing fuels group to provide incredible support to the IHRA for years to come,” said Steven Cole, IHRA Vice President Corporate Partnerships.
Sunoco race fuel will be available at IHRA events throughout the 2015 season.
