Skooter Peaco, Vice President of Race Operations for the IHRA comments, “Texas features some fantastic drag racing and we are ecstatic to have Amarillo Dragway as a forerunner to the many racing facilities in that southern region. Mike has really built a nice family oriented program at Amarillo and you can clearly see that shine at the Summit Team Finals. Winning the D7 Team Championship in back to back season is no accident. Their team is an ultra-competitive and close group of racers.”
New for 2015, the track will be hosting the IHRA Division 7 “Gunslingers” Summit Team Finals. Qualified racers from the region’s seven IHRA member tracks will converge on Amarillo Dragway where these qualifiers compete as part of the national Summit Super Series championships presented by Amsoil. This pinnacle event for sportsman competitors will award each class champion the coveted IHRA Iron Man trophy. Each of these division 7 champions will then compete later this year at the Summit World Finals in Memphis, Tennessee for their world championship runoff against other regional champions.
IHRA now sanctions tracks in 30 U.S. states and territories, five Canadian provinces and abroad in Aruba, the Bahamas and New Zealand.
