IHRA Sponsor Spotlight: M&K Sport Coach

Friday, 16 June 2017

M&K Sport Coach, a full-service dealer of Renegade luxury motor coaches and a division of M&K Truck Centers, is a major contingency sponsor of the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA).  M&K is posting contingency money for the winner and runner up at all IHRA Summit Sportsman National Championship, Summit Team Finals and Junior Nationals events.  Through its IHRA contingency sponsorship, M&K promotes its Renegade brand motor coaches and trailers.

“I've been a drag racer forever and raced everything from five Junior Dragsters at the same time, to various bracket cars, all the way up to an injected nitro A/Fuel dragster,” Renegade sales executive Randy Repp said.  “That means I’ve also pulled almost every imaginable truck/RV/trailer combination so I can relate to the needs and budgets of my fellow racers. The IHRA is the perfect fit for M&K Sport Coach because we reach the best of our target market, and we have a great time doing it. The IHRA treats us and its racers with the respect that all customers deserve but very few get. We appreciate IHRA for providing us with the ultimate playground.”

M&K has a long history that includes quite an evolution through the years. After a humble beginning in 1989, M&K now employs more than 600 talented people across 13 locations in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois; the company headquarters is located in Byron Center, Mich.

M&K Quality Truck Sales was incorporated in 1989, when successful salesperson, Ron Meyering bought the used truck inventory of a leasing company to become an entrepreneur in his own right. Over the next decade, Meyering steadily grew the business, and when the opportunity to acquire Volvo truck dealerships in Grand Rapids, Mich., and Kalamazoo, Mich., came along in 2002, he added these high-quality new trucks as well as a second location to his business.

The Mack Trucks brand was added to the M&K family in Kalamazoo in 2003 and in Grand Rapids three years later.  In 2010, the company acquired a dealership in Indianapolis, and from there, the company continued to grow its brand throughout the Midwestern United States. In 2012, M&K purchased three dealerships in the Chicago area, and two years later, M&K acquired a facility in Kokomo, Ind., followed by a new facility in Des Plaines, Ill. in 2015.

That same year, M&K added M&K Sport Coach in Indianapolis, and last year, the company opened a new facility in Frankfort, Ind., acquired Wiegand Mack Sales & Service and opened a dealership in Sterling Heights, Mich.  Earlier this year, the company opened a Volvo location in Romulus, Mich.

After nearly three decades of growth, M&K has won many awards and now offers Mack, Volvo, Hino and Isuzu trucks; Wabash, Benson, East, Transcraft and Mac trailers as well as Renegade custom luxury motor coaches. M&K’s comprehensive service offerings include financing, leasing and rental services as a member of NationaLease, service and repair on all makes and models and one of the industry’s largest parts inventories.
