The fabulous trips to the tropical island of Aruba has been part of the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Championship prize package since 2005. The world champions of the Top (Box), Mod (No Box), and now Junior Dragster classes receive eight-day/seven-night vacations for two in Aruba.
The trip includes airfare, hotel accommodations, car rental, an island UTV tour, and an assortment of lunch and dinner packages. It’s part of the overall prize package that includes $20,000 for the Top and Mod champions, $10,000 for the Junior Dragster champion and $7,000 for the Sportsman champion, along with an IHRA Gold Card, a World Champion IronMan trophy, and a World Championship diamond ring.
The Aruba vacations are made possible by partnerships with Around Aruba Tours, Driftwood Restaurant, Eagle Aruba Resort & Casino, More 4 Less car rentals and the Don Flip Racing Team.
“The Summit SuperSeries has been the premiere national championship for sportsman bracket racers for the last 20 years thanks in large part to our partners who recognize the importance of keeping the IHRA member track’s weekly bracket program thriving,” IHRA Vice President Skooter Peaco said. “The partnership with our friends in Aruba is one of the cornerstones of this program.
“Fortunately our Aruba host Juan Werleman is a big believer in the bracket racing program and has been involved in putting this program together and expanding the program to include all champions. We can’t thank Juan enough for his hard work and dedication to the program and to making sure our champions have a great experience on the island."
With beautiful sandy beaches, iconic sites, incredible fishing in cool blue water, museums, and art, Aruba has provided a dream destination for IHRA executives, partners, and racers alike.
It was a particularly special trip for 2014 IHRA Top ET World Champion Cody Bayus and wife Lindsay as the newlyweds used the free eight-day/seven-night trip for their honeymoon. After learning of the champion’s newlywed status, the couple was honored with a lavish celebration with dignitaries and racers from the island.
The couple had their days filled with island tours, dinners, and beach activities.
For Vernon Rowland, the 2017 IHRA Super Rod World Champion, the Aruba getaway came at the perfect time. The Oklahoma racer and his wife used the trip to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary.
It has been unforgettable for others as well. The Aruba trip sets the IHRA championship package apart in a distinctive way with a bonus unlike any other.
