For 60 years, Strange Engineering has proven itself the leader in manufacturing high-performance rear ends that cover an extensive range of drag racing applications — from street to Top Fuel.
Bob Stange began his career over 60 years ago working in machine shops during the day and making suspension parts for his friends and himself in a two-car garage in Evanston, Illinois in the late 1950s. Strange Engineering was officially incorporated in 1964.
Top Fuel dragster pilot Chris “The Golden Greek” Karamesines was one of the first high-profile customers. He called his good friend Stange to build a new rear-end quickly as the one he had on his dragster broke following a match race. After using the new rear-end that Stange built, Karamesines would never use any other rear-end on his cars. The legendary “Golden Greek” still has the original rear-end that Stange built in his shop to this day.
President Jeff Stange continues the family legacy as Strange Engineering offers complete rear ends, rear-end parts, complete driveshafts, driveshaft components, performance steering and suspension parts, high-performance brake kits and brake parts for drag racing applications. He’s looking forward to a long-standing relationship with the IHRA and owner Larry Jeffers.
“I am very excited to have IHRA in the hands of Larry Jeffers. Strange Engineering has contributed to the growth of drag racing for over 60 years — and we look forward to continuing that legacy with IHRA,” Jeff Stange said. “Strange Engineering will support IHRA as a marketing partner for 2023 and beyond. Besides our marketing sponsorship, we will help support the next generation of IHRA racers in any way we can.”
The family-owned business is based on three key principles — quality product, quality service and a true enthusiasm for the performance industry. Those tie in nicely with the IHRA’s commitment to grassroots, Sportsman racing.
“Strange Engineering shares our goals of providing the very best for the grassroots racers and bringing a true passion to drag racing,” IHRA Owner and CEO Larry Jeffers said. “Like the IHRA, their dedication to the sport is time-tested. Both of us are also committed to doing our best for the racers who devote their time, energy and resources to our sport.”
