Force’s family remains with the legendary champion. His daughter, Brittany, a two-time NHRA Top Fuel World Champion, will miss this weekend’s Summit Racing Equipment Nationals at Norwalk, Ohio, while Funny Car points leader Austin Prock will represent the John Force Racing team.
Force, 75, holds several NHRA records, the most notable 157 national-event wins. A former IHRA competitor, Force finished in the top 10 of the 1988 IHRA Funny Car standings. Thursday’s statement expressed gratitude for the medical staff and the outpouring of support. It thanked everyone for continuing to respect the privacy of the family and team members.
“John Force transcends the sport of drag racing, one of the most well-known figures in all of motorsports,” IHRA President Mel Roth said. “He's in the thoughts and prayers of IHRA staff, officials and members as we pass on our wishes to the legendary champion for a complete recovery from his injuries.”
