The Division 6 race was the first of nine races in the Summit Team Finals before the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals at Memphis International Raceway on Oct. 20-22.
Four tracks were eligible to compete in the Division 6 Finals. Northern Lights Raceway and Nitro Motorsports Park in British Columbia, Montana’s Hi-Line Dragstrip and Alaska Raceway Park.
Racers from Canada’s Team Nitro dominated the action.
Rod Belsham from Prince George, B.C., was the winner in the Box Class, speeding down the track in 7.858 seconds at 171.62 mph. Kelsey Dufresne of Wembley, Alberta, was runner-up, posting an 8.653-second run at 148.67 mph.
Andy Closkey from Quesnel, Alberta, took top honors in No Box, matching his dial-in at 10.092 seconds and 124.61 mph. Andrew Tofteland of Beaver Lodge, Alberta, posted numbers of 11.437 seconds and 111.78 mph to take second-place honors.
In the Junior Dragster class, Noah MacDonald from Charlie Lake, British Columbia, was the winner, going 8.113 seconds at 79.34 mph. Kaelie Morton of Fort St. John, B.C., finished second with a 7.907-second pass at 81 mph.
Shawn Hagen of Whitelaw, Alberta won a special competition in Pure Street. He went 15.192 seconds and 90.76 mph, which was good enough as Ray Piper of Dawson Creek, B.C., red-lighted.
The next Summit Team Finals will be a triple event weekend on Sept. 14-17. Events will be held at Carolina Dragway in Aiken, S.C., US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich., and at Keystone Raceway in New Alexandria. Pa. In addition, there will be a JR Race CarJunior Dragster Team Finals on Sept. 1-3 at Little River Dragway in Holland, Texas.
