Participating tracks besides the Martin, Michigan facility for the IHRA Division 5 (Thunder) Team Finals include: Great Lakes Dragaway, Muncie Dragway, Mid-Michigan Motorplex, US 41 Motorsports Park, Bunker Hill Dragstrip, The Ubly Dragway, Lapeer Dragway, Grand Bend Motorplex and St. Thomas Raceway Park. 

US 131 Motorsports Park is the two-time defending Division 5 Thunder Summit Team Finals champion. Teams from Muncie Dragway and Mid-Michigan Motorplex finished second and third in 2021.

Any Summit SuperSeries competitor, who has an IHRA membership and an “X” number registered and valid according to IHRA records through his or her division’s Summit Team Finals event, can win the Summit Team Finals main event championship and become eligible for the Summit SuperSeries World Finals at Holly Springs Motorsports October 12-15.

Pat McCreery from Muncie was the 2021 Division 5 champion in Top (Box) and Billy Meier from US 131 protected the home turf to win in Mod (No Box). Other champions were: Jordan Wilheim (Sportsman) and Ean Guenthardt from Mid-Michigan in Junior Dragster.
