Onawa Dragway Set to Host IHRA Division 6 Summit Team Finals

Tuesday, 10 January 2023

HOUSE SPRINGS, Missouri — Onawa Dragway will serve as host for the newly named International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Division 6 Summit Team Finals on August 24-26.

The facility located halfway between Sioux City, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska opened in 2018. A true showcase, the Iowa track has hosted an IHRA Sportsman Spectacular event the past couple of seasons.

Thunder Valley Dragways, Humboldt Dragway, Nitro Motorsports Park and Interlake Dragway are others besides the host track currently scheduled to compete in Division 6.

The IHRA Division 6 Summit Team Finals replaces the old Midwest Team Finals. The region has produced some of the best racers in the country in recent years.

In 2021, Zach Livingston and Jimmie Barrett won the Mod (No Box) and Sportsman classes at the IHRA Summit Midwest Team Finals. Both drivers parlayed those strong runs into runner-up finishes at the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals.

Barrett repeated as the Sportsman champion at the 2022 Midwest Team Finals. Brian Barten won the 2022 Top (Box) final on a holeshot, while Pete McGlynn was the Mod (No Box) winner. Carter Brand was the Junior Dragster race winner.

The IHRA is taking suggestions from the racers themselves for a new nickname for the division. More IHRA Summit Team Finals dates and locations will be announced soon. Check out the IHRA.com website and our social media channels for upcoming announcements.
