Action kicked off Thursday with an all-London Dragway final in the Box class. Chris Johnson got the .007 in his black dragster to get the best of Jayson Daniel. Johnson’s winning effort included a 4.69-second run at 146.44 mph against a 4.69 dial-in. Daniel finished in 6.18 seconds at 109.25 against a 6.16 dial-in with a .029 reaction time.
Wesley Lockhart from Beacon Dragway captured the No Box victory when final-round opponent Jordan Martin from Gleason Raceway Park triggered the red-light. Lockhart paired a 5.934-second pass at 114.56 mph against a 5.95 dial-in with a .031 reaction time. Martin’s potential winning effort of 6.523 seconds at 103.50 mph on 6.50 dial-in was negated by being just -.002 too quick at the start.
Beacon Dragway had another winner with William Thurston winning a Sportsman final which both and Brad Davis from Holly Springs each had terrific starts. Thurston went down the track in 7.627 seconds at 92.16 mph against a 7.62 dial-in. Davis finished in 8.49 seconds at 79.66 mph against an 8.48 dial-in. Davis was slightly better .005 to .007 at the tree.
Braylon Lee from Music City Raceway took the Junior Dragster win with a 7.983-second run at 75.98 mph against a 7.95 dial-in with a .137 start. David Leonard Jr. from Jeffers Motorsports Park broke out with an 8.084-second run at 79.28 mph along after a stellar .010 reaction time.
Four more drivers captured Friday victories.
Brendan Senseney rocketed down the track in 4.913 seconds at 134.13 mph against a 4.89 dial-in along with a .019 reaction time to win the Box final. Jason Mills broke out with a 4.844-second run at 141.73 mph against a 4.85 dial-in after a .045 start.
The No Box final saw William Joiner from Gleason Raceway Park with the winning package of 7.483 seconds at 90.85 mph against a 7.47 dial-in. He had the good start, going .009 at the tree. Charlie Lockhart from Beacon Dragway broke out in his run, going 5.651 seconds at 117.49 mph.
Tommy Jackson from Holly Springs had the home track victory in the Sportsman final with an 8.298-second pass at 80.27 mph against an 8.29 dial-in. He also had a .047 to .060 advantage over Jackson Rogers from Centerville Dragway at the start. Rogers posted a 7.57-second run at 88.50 mph against a 7.56 dial-in.
Gavin Jones was the Junior Dragster winner going 9.037 seconds at 71.92 mph against an 8.99 dial-in. Final round opponent CJ Short had the better reaction time .024 to .060, but was just a little behind at the finish with an 8.089-second pass at 80.14 mph against a 7.98 dial-in.
Other racers had plenty to celebrate with main event wins and special awards presented during a fun-filled weekend.
