Justin Holston from Elk Creek topped the field in the Top (Box) class. He finished in 6.334 seconds at 106.32 mph against a 6.34 dial-in, paired with a .014 reaction time in the final round. Larry Coleman from Motor Mile Dragway went 6.288 seconds at 108.05 mph on a 6.31 dial after a .032 start.
Tyrone Merilic from Elk Creek scored the win in the Mod (No Box) as final-round opponent Demarion Harper from Roxboro Motorsports Park left the starting line early. Merilic a 6.761-second pass at 86.89 mph against a 6.62 dial-in. Harper cruised down the track after triggering the red light.
Elk Creek racer Landon Hash was the Junior Dragster winner as Ryan Bell Jr., also from Elk Creek, red-lighted by just -.001. Hash matched his 8.40 dial-in with a 75.80 mph run after a .049 reaction time. After his near perfect start, Bell went down the eighth-mile in 7.917 seconds at 82.30 mph.
Action continued Friday with Larry Coleman from Motor Mile driving his blue Chevy Malibu to the win over Jamie Moxley from Elk Creek in an orange Ford Mustang in the Top final.
Another pony was fired up in the Mod final. Nathan Sexton from Motor Mile raced his black Mustang to the win with AJ Perry from Elk Creek the runner-up in his Chevy Cavalier.
Bell finished one spot better than the previous day with a win in the Junior Dragster final over Dalton Wilkinson from Roxboro Motorsports Park.
Lance Howdyshell, representing Motor Mile, won the team captain’s race with Steve Groseclose from Elk Creek finishing runner-up.
The IHRA Summit Team Finals conclude this weekend with Division 8 (South) and Division 9 (Raiders) races before heading into the IHRA Summit SuperSeries World Finals.
